One day I will create my dream house.
I will have a pink kitchen with retro appliances and there will always be a freshly baked something cooling on the counter.
There will be large, sturdy bookcases I made myself out of old crates and they will house a variety of well-worn books. Some books will have been purchased when they were brand new with crisp, clean pages and some will have traveled to find me across many miles and other pairs of grateful hands.
I’ll keep a wide collection of music to suit every mood. One day Faye Adams will be singing a classic, smoky R&B tune across the rooms, the next day The Carter Family will invite us to sing along as if they were right here with us.
There will be a special a room of that house where someone who needs to rest can do so. I’ll sit with you on the bed and we will drink tea and eat the freshly baked goodies. I’ll tell you to put on whatever music your ears need to hear and you won’t have to worry about speaking words you can’t find.
If you need to relax further and still can’t say why, I’ll tell you I understand. You can choose a book from the shelves and get comfortable under the blanket I made.
If you ask why I made a place so comfortable for someone who can’t speak their pains, I’ll just smile and ask you to please not mind the minor tea stains on the books or the wrinkled pages.
