[fanfic] Based on a Love Story
Based on a Love Story | Donghae/Reader | PG-13 | school, fail crack? | prologue
Serendipity is defined as an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident[1]. And boy, did I hit that serendipity on the head god dammit. I was never one to believe in love at first sight. What am I saying? This isn't love. I just feel completely inclined to be with this boy at all costs. All costs meaning he makes the first move because I'm too much of a pussy to even think about holding a conversation with him. I'd like to think I'm content with just staring at his gorgeous face and forgetting to breathe when we pass in the hall. But honestly I want to - err - get in his pants to put it quite frankly.
But that serendipity and I, we're best friends these days. I had met my best guy friend Sungmin after our club activities like I do every day to catch the bus home. All I remember is running straight into Sungmin as we walked up the aisle to our seats after catching a glimpse of him. And before I know it, Sungmin was chatting up a storm, a thunderstorm it might as well have been, with the Lee Donghae. What the fuck is this? My best friend knows is buddy-buddy with Lee Donghae. Does he have any idea how popular he is? And how drop dead gorgeous that boy he's conversing with is? Rumour has it, he's a model in his spare time, to put it into perspective.
He left me standing there, mouth half agape as the bus suddenly lurched forward causing me to nearly fall on an elderly lady a few seats down.
"Are you going to sit down Graceful, or just try to defy gravity some more?" Sungmin questioned with a huge grin smacked across his face.
Hmpf. After apologizing to the woman and muttering curses under my breath to Sungmin, I calmly took my seat hiding behind Sungmin and his attitude. I swear I could kill him then. Kill. There you have it. His first impression of me: a babo. Just lovely.
I was more than ready to depart the bus when it reached our stop. Wanting to be out of Lee Donghae's presence: don't expect it to happen again.
"Are you okay? Normally you're Little Miss Social Butterfly and you haven't said a -"
"Okay?! Am I okay? Since when were you friends with Lee Donghae and why didn't you tell me? huh?"
"We met at a party, Choi Siwon's, I believe," he stated coolly. "Hyukjae dragged me along."
"Si-Siwon," I stammered with another one of my many looks of astonishment. How is it he knows everyone?
"If I had known you have a little crush on Dhae," He laced his arm across my shoulders. "I would have set you two up."
"Now way." I pushed him away. "How dare you use the 'c' word against me. We're just destined to be together like Baek Seungjo and Oh Hani[2]. He can't know I like him. He's way out of my league. It's pretty much illegal for someone like me to date someone like him. Didn't you get the memo? I'm perfectly fine watching from the sidelines."
Aish. Why did I say that? I mentally kicked myself in the ass, wishing for any way to retract those statements no matter how true they are. But people don't just hook-up and date like they do in dramas. Do they?
"Aight if you say so." He turned to walk down his street.
Before he walked too far, I grabbed him by the collar. "Tell him I like him and die. I know where you sleep Minnie."
"I'll be sleeping with one eye open. Catch ya later, Shortie. If you ever want to get together with him, give me a call okay?"
God Sungmin and his self confidence. Thankfully for me (maybe), not a word was mentioned between us about Lee Donghae for about a week.
