Warning: Lots of/too many pictures, sorry. Also, i really need a better camera and a haircut!
I had a wonderful time in Budapest. I saw the city, I partyed, I met many people from many places, I spent quality time with family who I used to spend lots and lots of time with and who I do miss a lot. I’ve managed to attain one of my New Year resolutions too! Flying alone was honestly not the best experience, but it did allow me to just get on with things and not stress to anyone (because there was nobody to stress to!). I also felt a great sense of independence. The only really bad thing about the flights was taking off, during which I looked out of the window and felt rather like my head was spinning around and I was close to vomiting. However, as much as I’d like to, I really do not warm to flying and it made me extremely anxious and WEIRD.
John met me in the airport (he was flying in from Warsaw) and drove me through the city. The sunset was amazing that first evening, but unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of this. Anna whisked me straight out for cocktails with her friends Nande and Saima. Going to the international school, she is friends with so many diverse people. The two I just mentioned are Swiss and Angolan and their father is the Angolan Ambassador!
On my first full day, Angie took me for a tasty lunch at the Mariott Hotel and then through the city, across the chain bridge and up to the Castle District:

It was really nice seeing Angie. We spent a lot of time talking in depth about various things. She generously payed for everything, we sipped champagne on the balcony, she took me to see the sights. One afternoon, we visited some ornate outdoor baths (I.e swimming pools) which was a lot of fun! The mineral thermal pool was so revitalising! I wasn’t allowed to photograph it though. Angie also took me walking in the hills and to Heroes Square and the adjoining parks. Edit! HOW could i forget? I went to an Afro-Latin thingamybob dance class which was pretty amazing! There were drummers from Sierra Leone and i proper had to shake my backside, haha. It was something totally off the scale for me, but it was so freeing& really good for the body. I really let go! I have no pictures of this, good job!
Anna took me out on her social circuit. I swear she has more phonecalls in a day than I receive in a month! We went to some bars and over two of the nights visited outdoor clubs that are situated along the Danube. Whilst the music wasn’t altogether my taste (although some of it was pretty good), the clubs were very cool and different! One evening I got a little drunk. We went to Anna’s friend’s birthday meal and I drank a LOT of champagne with Anna’s friends and had a good dance.

Anna, Nande, Fraser
Sofia, Argentian, brought me lots of drink. Cool girl.
Anna and I had a lot of fun on the last day. We went to Margit Island which is on the river and hired a pedal car. We ended up having to push it part of the way in fits of giggles.
Their house is veerry nice. The décor isn’t too good, but the layout and situation of it is great. They live in Buda up in the hills that overlook the city. The view has been hindered by a house newly built just below it so you can no longer see the river, but it is still lovely. I liked to stand out on Anna’s balcony at night and watch the city lights. It’s really cool that they have a pool, I relaxed so much in it, it really was the life!

Me in pool, hmm.

It was, of course, very upsetting to see Michael so ill. I kept finding myself staring at his childhood photos and remembering how lovely he really is. I tried hard to talk to him and made him some lunch one day, but on the whole he seemed terribly unhappy and very aggressive towards Angie because she is essentially the one who is trying to help him. He really did not want to return to the hospital and Angie said he exploded when he was told he most probably has Tourrettes. Angie and John (the latter seems to be in some form of denial and refuses to visit the doctor with Michael) believe he has had some kind of nervous breakdown. That boy needs a hell of a lot of love right now.
On the final night, Angie, Michael, Anna, Heliki and I went to a cool Japanese restaurant where you take your shoes off and sit with your legs in a big hole under the table.
Petals on the pool.
Dead roses and pretty beads.

I had to get up TRES early on Tuesday and I cried a lot at the airport after saying goodbye to Angie and because I was so tired and scared. Got back to England and had a bit of a nightmare with the trains, missing my Euston connection by about 10 frigging seconds! Thankfully, the man at the info desk could see how distressed and exhausted I was and sorted out my ticket so that it was valid on the other trains. I’m still cream-crackered today after all that travelling!
Last night, Stu and I drove up to the Dog& Doublet and had a drink by the canal, followed by a walk around some of Kingsbury Water Park. It was nice, minus the bites and stingers!
I have a lot to catch up on on here concerning last week at uni and Weezer gig and stuff…later.
