I think you misunderstood my post. By "canonize", I meant in the original Catholic Church sense, to make the character a saint. If they laid on the messiah plot any thicker with this character, you'd have to use a plasma torch to cut through it. He was a wonderful character once, before he became the Stuiest Stu who ever Stued. I used to adore him, now I want a dragon to sit on him.
He was one of the faction leaders and had a wonderful will-they-or-won't-they relationship with one of the human leaders (he's an Orc), then he randomly went back to his homeland, married someone he'd known for about two minutes (and whose interaction was basically bickering and sniping), left the faction leader position to save the world, left his old job to a brainless warmonger out of sentimentality (and got his best friend killed in the process-- and when he showed up to the funeral, it was all about *his* grief and *his* guilt and *his suffering, I wanted to slug him), saved the world... and now the immortal dragon element aspects have given up their immortality for fuck only knows what reason (the world is still under threat) and the life-giver dragon as her final parting gift to mortal beings, made the girlfriend pregnant with "life, the future of Azeroth". *bleagh*
It's an idiotic, obnoxious, rather misogynistic and profoundly wtf-y plotline, and the complete ruination of a character most of the fanbase absolutely loved. Yay, team.

Huh? That sounds awful!
It seems that a beloved character sooner or later gets this kind of weird treatment.
