Your Ideal Home

How would you describe your ideal home?

For me, my ideal home would be a small and cozy house.  Most important would be the backyard where I would love to have it lush with life.  A pond could be near the middle filled with koi and other fish and maybe even a turtle, with a trickling stone fountain nearby.  I want trees and flowers and bushes that I could nurture (even though I don't know the first thing about gardening, I could learn).  I've always wanted my own garden to care for, but never had the place for it.  In a cozy niche of the yard, I could place a small table with chairs where a meal or many meals might be enjoyed under the peaceful charm of windchimes.  If I could string a few small lights throughout the garden, just enough to match the glimmer of stars, that would be perfect.  It would be just enough to hint that there's still some magic in the world.

Inside, I will not have one white wall.  If I could make different walls different colors that properly matched, that would be perfect.  Each room would have its own cultural feel, whether it be southwestern or Asian or South American, so that I never forget the colors and the beauties of the world unique to each culture.  But they'd have to be real artifacts, so I'd have to do some traveling and see the world with my own eyes.

I would love to dedicate one entire wall as my wall of knowledge, where all of my bookshelves are kept.  I don't want a big TV with surround sound or a lot of electronics everywhere.  I want it to feel peaceful, as it should, and to feel full of life and color.  I've come to really enjoy bettas (I still want more, especially now that I've nursed my latest one back to happy health) so I would have to keep a few of them, but I want a bird of some kind, or several small birds that are relatively quiet.  A parrot to add to the color would be wonderful.  Maybe one cat, but no more.  I couldn't handle too many animals.

I wouldn't want to live out in the middle of nowhere, so a home on the outskirts of town, or even in the middle of town so long as it's cut off somehow from the noise of traffic, would be fine.  I don't imagine any other people in this ideal home.  No kids.  No boyfriend or husband.  Just a bird, some fish, and maybe a cat.  And a wonderful garden.  That's all I want.
