Summary: An continuation to my other story "Loss of All". Ginny and her brothers receive news about Molly from St Mungo's.
A/N: I don't own Ginny or Molly. WARNING: mention of character death!!
It had taken Molly Weasley more than a few years to wither away in the Geriatric ward in St Mungo’s. With every passing year, the family slowly began to lose memories of how she used to be-a vibrant woman with a sharp but loving temper who devoted herself to the well being of her family. Now she wasn't even a shadow of her former self. She just sat in the chair that the healer assistants put her in for the day and dozed or slept. With time, it grew harder to wake her up and interact with her-it seemed like all she wanted to do was sleep.
Ginny and her brothers came by every weekend to visit her as well as on special occasions such as birthdays. Sometimes, their children and spouses would come along but most times it was just Ginny and her brothers. For Ginny, in particular, the loss of her mother grew as the years went by. Rationally, she knew that her mum was still here with them in body at least, but emotionally she knew that her mother, or rather her essence, had gone a long time ago.
So when the family finally received the Head Healer’s patronous announcing that Molly had finally passed away, Ginny sighed a sigh of relief. She was a little sad that she wouldn't be able to see her mother in person ever again, but she was happy that her mum was at peace at last back together with her dad. Ginny supposed that the years that it took watching her mother waste away helped her deal with the actual loss when it came.
In reality, she had said goodbye to the person who had been her mother a long time ago and the loss of the shell of her mother just gave her relief. The long and agonizing wait for the last remnant of her mother to die was finally over.
