That's a video of the Vice Presidential debate between Palin and Biden. I know that the election is over and Obama won. Most likely what I am going to say has already been said, and people have moved on. Actually, I really hope it has....
I did not watch the full Vice Presidential Debate. I have very limited access to current TV. The first glimpse I had of the debate was actually the SNL parody. I noticed that, when they were "reenacting" the question about gay rights, they made it seems like Biden and Palin agreed on the issue and that it was silly. I decided to find the real video and see for myself. Watching it then, I remember being slightly disappointed in the Obama/Biden campaign. I also remember having the impression that, from then on, people really thought this was the case.
HOWEVER, I just re-watched it (via the link I posted), and I had a revelation. Their answers were NOT even remotely the same. Palin says McCain/Palin does NOT support changing the definition of marriage from "one man and one woman." In other words, they will not let it happen. Biden, on the other hand, says Obama/Biden does not support the ABILITY to change the definition. He explicitly says that it is not a civil issue and should be left to the discretion of the religion performing the act. Beyond that, he says the words "same-sex marriage" in the first response to the question.
Somehow, Palin twists around the words so she can answer the question by saying something she wants to say. Just answer the fucking question. No one cares if you have a gay friend that you're still friends with. Do you expect praise for remaining friends with another...er...human? Thanks for the "tolerance."
Ok, I suppose that's it. I'm probably (hopefully) WAY behind on this. I really hope people saw this by now. Please tell me they have....
FYI, I am aware the she did NOT make it any where close to the White House and that this issue is basically obsolete. This was mainly for myself, in an attempt to feel caught up with the world...ha.
