It really feels like everyone around me is freaking getting engaged. (Disclaimer: This post is not out of jealousy...just an observation.) Within the last, oh, 6 months, I can probably name about 10 couples who have gotten engaged. I guess this is how it starts to work as you get older. I don't know. Whatever though.
I am excited about one particular engagement though. My little sister's boyfriend proposed to her on Christmas Day. I really like the guy, and I know he will be good for her. She's one of those girls. The kind that needs to be taken care of. The kind that can't be alone. She is 20, and he is 26 with a stable job and pretty nice income. This is good also because she is pregnant. (Yes, with his child.) She is due March 14ish, and I am excited about this as well! :) I love babies. Babies turn me into a girl. Haha. Puppies, too. Anyway, they are getting married next April (as in, 2009), and she told me the other day to "mark my calendar" because I am the maid-of-honor. :) It's funny; I'm not really a big fan of weddings. They tend to make me sad. Not because I don't have anyone, but because people feel like they need this extra someone (or something) to keep them together. But whatever. I do feel very "honored," if you will, that she picked me, and I have to admit, I am kind of excited about the whole dressing up and being girly thing. Ha. It happens every once in a while. I feel a little bad for my youngest sister though because when we were all little, we planned the whole maid-of-honor thing out. There are 3 of us, and (bear with me here), I was/am going to be it for my middle sister; my middle was going to be it for me littlest sister; and my littlest sister was supposed to be it for me. Being that I don't like the whole marriage and wedding bit, it seems that my youngest sister is going to miss out on this. I almost want to tell my currently-engaged sister to make both of us for her wedding. Ah well.
Hm....this post came out a lot longer than I thought it would. Hehe. Time to go launch in Bryan. Woo! Another full day at the gym. But I love it.
I think if I go to Facebook and see another engagement on my news feed, I might throw up a little. ;)
EDIT 1-26-08: Since this post, TWO MORE of my friends have gotten engaged. Seriously...somebody hand me a bag.
