Best book I can remember reading in a long time. It’s a long book (almost 800 pages), but well worth the read.
THE TERROR by Dan Simmons
SUMMARY: A historical horror tale based on the doomed Franklin Expedition to find the fabled North-West Passage (the sea route lying above the Arctic Circle, between Canada, Greenland and the Arctic itself, linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans).
All I could ask for in a book:
Survival narratives - check!
Religious symbolism - check!
Perspective changes - check!
Mutiny - check!
Cannibalism - check!
Gore - check!
Amputees - check!
Homosexuality - check!
