I know, three entries in an hour. Sorry.
But seriously, there was no way to wrap delayed virtual retail therapy into the account of our UofA weekend.
So, due to the happiness that is the weight loss, I've been in need of and exploring options for shopping and new pants. I also wanted a new swim suit for this weekend.
So starting with the swim suit, I went to the
Lands' End website, and looked at as many swim suit options as I could until my eyes glazed over, got easily frustrated that the custom suit separates for girls with boobs either wasn't in stock at all or couldn't be delivered until insanely late, and then decided to look at the stock suits. I finally, after quite a bit of agonizing settled on a cute colorblock X back swim suit in magenta and black. It looked so cute, and came theoretically with the bigger mammary pockets. Despite my sticker shock, I took the gamble and ordered it. I also found what looked like a nice pair of jeans and some linen-cotten 5-pocket pants that were cute as well. So, I placed the order, tried not to look at the price total for a measly 3 items and figured it an investment for the trip this weekend.
That was all two weeks ago. I patiently wait for my stuff to arrive.
Cut to last Thursday when I was playing around on the
Old Navy site, because I needed some stock t-shirts and really didn't have time to go out shopping. So there are some tees on sale, and Old Navy and I have history, so I order two polos, two tees, one pair of cargos on sale, a cute black pencil skirt (wearing today!) and heck, why not, toss in one of their tankinis as well. I only later noted that I ordered 7 items (on sale) from Old Navy, and the order total was $40 cheaper than the three items I ordered from Lands' End. I'm really trying not to dwell on that I apparently have cheap tastes, or like to shop in bulk.
Now I will be the first to recognize that online shopping is good in that you don't have to fight the crowds or the changing room or traffic, or anything. It is nice when you don't have the hours to devote to shopping. It is bad in that you have to wait, and just have to take the gamble that some things won't fit right, won't look right, won't work right, and returns are a necessary evil.
So, yesterday I check the shipping information on both orders which had both packages arriving that night. Hooray! Oh, well we gotta run off to practice, so I have to wait until afterward to try everything on. First, I try on the unfamiliar, Lands' End. Sad to say, for me, nothing works. The pants are too high waisted and despite the numbers on the website, too narrow in the waist. Sigh. Yes, both of them. I tried them on twice and again this morning, just to be certain. The suit. Sigh, the suit was great until you got to the bodice where the lining rolled out to the surface to show no matter what shifting and tucking I tried. It was not really working and certainly not worth what the suit cost, so it too goes into the return pile. At least I tried. Next was the pile from my standard, Old Navy. The pants fit. The skirt, obviously fits. The tops fit fine, and the suit even fits. Color me shocked. Usually I have at least one return item per order. Okay, well, there you go. My body likes the Old Navy, and I'm okay with that, but I do still need to try other places too. In time I suppose.
Oh, and the cute pencil skirt with pointy toed flats and a striped button down shirt is the awesome today, except it points out in sharp relief the tan of my hands and the pasty whiteness of my legs. Hmm... sunshine this weekend, right?
Well, I'm off to the chiropractor and then some grocery shopping! Yay shopping!
