That's a bold statement to make, but I guarantee it to be true.
You see, I went to V-Festival on the Gold Coast last night, and I did 8 hours upright, without drugs, caffine or sugar (just water and the occasional cob of corn).
It was brilliant, for many reasons, below are a few
1. Literally bumped into the lead singer of Gnarls Barkley outside my hotel, we locked eyes, I knew I should recognise him, but I thought all the bands were staying at the Avica resort. Turns out I was dead wrong.
2. Smiled at Jarvis Cocker before I realised who he was (he was behind me in the queue at check in).
3. The Pixies (yes, _The_ Pixies) were also staying at my hotel and our group hung out in the bar with them after the concert.
3. I saw the several brilliant concerts -
* Gnarls Barkley (all the band, back up singers, string section, and the singer, in school uniforms)
* Phoenix (French band, very, very good)
* Groove Armada - trance-y, mesmerising light and graphics show, music that made you want to dance your arse off
And finally, the icing on the cake. PET SHOP BOYS.
Ohmigod, they rocked, rocked, rocked. They scrubbed up so well and after so many years they still sound fabulous and modern and despite my recent surgery I got up off the ground and danced away to such dance-floor fillers as "You Were Always on my Mind" (my hubby and I sang loudly to each other with huge grins on our faces), "It's a Sin",
"Where The Streets Have No Names/Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" and the show-finishing, show stopping, "Go West".
Seriously, when they performed "Go West" the entire crowd was doing the dance actions that the dancers up on stage were doing and just going completely troppo. The wonderful thing was looking out into a crowd of very young 20-somethings, who weren't born when some of these songs were released, singing along and getting absolutely crazy-happy like us "older" ones were.
But despite all this amazing-ness, this is not the reason that I KNOW I had a better night than all of you ... the reason I know I had a better night is that I spent it with
THE PET SHOP BOYS THEMSELVES !!!!!
Yes, I was actually with the boys, at the bar, last night.
I was mostly knock-kneed with Idol-Worship but Chris invited us all to to join them and to meet their manager and my husband, my former boss and his fiancee flew around on cloud nine for the most magical finish to our evening.
Both Neil and Chris kissed us goodbye (I had to go lay down, I was close to crying and fainting with the wonderfulness of it all) and I caught up with Chris again this morning at breakky.
Deep Sigh.
Very blown away.
