*sigh*
. . .
You can just feel it, right? GACKT-san posses that incredible talent in stirring up the correct emotion from an audience.
When I listen to U+K, I can feel the message, "We will meet again, so smile!", without having to understand the Japanese lyrics.
Now, I guess you could say I felt the message in MY FATHER'S DAY at a higher intensity because most of the lyrics were in English.
Gosh, I'm tearing up right now just thinking about what I'm going to say next!
. . .
From the song, I could hear GACKT-san being thankful for the time he spent with Ogata-san, while trying to hold inside the sadness that his departure has left him.
To me, this meaning was strongly conveyed in the song after the intermission. You first hear GACKT-san singing the verse gently. Later he screams in the line "without fears or any doubts".
That moment in the song really kills me, because that is what I feel to be GACKT-san putting all his strength into saying good-bye.
Then he holds the ending note at fortissimo on "Many things you have left for me." Here I can feel how the memories with Ogata-san will be eternally treasured by GACKT-san. He secures that promise with a grateful "Thank you, Dad" to conclude the eulogy.
*sigh*
You know, I am grateful for Ogata-san's existence as well. He was able to show GACKT-san the bright side of life that no one else has. He was also one of the few people to understand GACKT-san's awkwardness, and how it could often be a communication obstacle.
Thanks to Ogata-san, GACKT-san now understands the power of a smile, and how it makes him more approachable to those he works with and his fans.
As a fangirl might say, Gacchan is now cuddly like a teddy bear!
Sorry for that out-of-place statement. Since I'm already crying, I thought I should end this post on a giddy note. ^_^
