by way of dailycandy (LA edition)

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (okay, twenty minutes, but an hour in traffic), a beautiful maiden was locked away in a dingy high-rise from 9 to 5 with nothing to eat but dollar tacos and Cup-a-Soup.

Then, one day, a messenger (an instant one) proclaimed the news of Tiara, a new specialty market/cafe that officially opens today in The New Mart Building downtown.

It was the specialty market/cafe of the maiden’s dreams: creative, healthy, and tasty foods inspired by flavors from around the world - like Middle Eastern flat breads, Spanish tapas, and Asian-inspired dishes. And everything was made with fresh, organic produce supplied by small farmers and producers.

Prices were modest but the decor rich, with sparkly walls and plush blue booths, making for a comfortable, whimsical spot where dining in and taking out were equally enjoyable.

All thanks to the valiant efforts of Sir Fred Eric (of Fred 62 and VIDA), our damsel no longer needed to be in distress.

She lived - and lunched - happily ever after.

The end.

Tiara Cafe, 127 East Ninth Street, between Main and Los Angeles Streets, Downtown (213-623-3663 or tiara-cafe.com).
