Well I must be on vacation if I'm up at 1:15 watching 'Big Love' on demand.
I'm too tired to talk about books in depth (or to link) but I will give you my partial list for our brief employee appreciation weekend:
*Confessions of an Economic Hitman - John Perkins
*The Virtue of Selfishness - Ayn Rand (thanks honey)
*Eleanor Rigby - Douglass Coupland (I've read 4 of his novels - all phenominal)
maybes:
*Devil in the Details
*Moving Beyond Mountains - Tracy Kidder
There must be more....hm....There are a bunch of things I should have ordered (it appears we have access to Dover, Schirmer, Riccordi scores and all Hal Leonard publications!) so I'll have to either wait until Christmastime or settle for my usual 30%. Still not bad.
Oh - and Moneyball for my dad!
I've interviewed for another position in the store. I'm pretty amazed by how quickly I've been able to move up. If I get this promotion, it would be my 4th position in 7 months. I'd also be making about twice as much as when I was hired in October. My only reluctance is that the hours would be really screwy. I would have to have practically open availability and would work a really wide range of shifts.
In some ways, I think the hours may be better for me musically. I've had absolutely no interest in practicing when I get home at 6:30 after 8 hours of boxes and shoving and jumping around. If I was working a mid or closing shift, at least I could practice before work. As it stands now, I leave work and only want to curl up with netflix and cuddle my man (who I would barely ever see if I was working weekends and evening shifts.) I've avoided my dad's many generous offers to help out with my financial life. I think it's finally time that I give in and ask for help to take some lessons. I think it's the only thing short of going back to school that would make me feel like a singer again.
I've fallen in love with photoshop. I got a pirated copy from my adorable one and I've included a few of my projects as new userpics! Fun!
