Is this what it has come to?

I'm scanning the channels for something to zone out to and I come across this show called Honey We're Killing the Kids. The show takes a family that has "dietary" problems (to say the least) and shows the parents what their kids are going to look like in 40 years (translation = fat and gross). Then they set up all these rules, throw out the junk ( Read more... )

i heard about that show but i've never seen it.

the playing outside thing is totally weird.
i grew up playing tag and man hunt, climbing trees and going on hikes/walks in the woods.
i couldn't imagine a childhood without it. but i know kids my age even that never did stuff like that. i've seen it even more so with my brother's friends (and they're only 2-3 years younger than me)
i guess parents think of television and video games as acceptable replacements for babysitters these days.

at least the kids a babysit for in the summer (ages 3 and 5) hardly ever watch tv.
we play outside and make crafts all the time (and i'm pretty sure they do with their parents too)
so i guess there's some hope.

aww, crafts... i used to make crafts all the time! haha

at least there are still SOME sane parents out there
maybe its just what I see with people who live around here
Bergen county isn't really the epicenter of morals and clean living

thank you for one of the most entertaining LJ entries i've read in quite a while.

and i totally share your pet peeve about kids being inappropriately dressed for their age group. it's sickening. when i was doing my observing at the middle school, i constantly saw little girls running around in school in outfits that i'd think twice about wearing even now at 23!
