Name: Shunsui Kyouraku
Series: Bleach
Age: Lived until age 37, has been a ghost for 428 years. This makes him 465 years old.
Personality:Shunsui is a very laid-back, good-natured ghost. He prefers to talk rather than fight, but will fight if he absolutely has to. He treats most things as a joke, becoming serious only when the situation absolutely requires it, and usually only with people he knows well. He prefers more superficial relationships in general, avoiding deep emotional attachments and situations which require seriousness. This is possibly because he is uncomfortable with too much emotion, and does not like letting people see his more serious sides.
His fun-loving character makes it easy for him to get along with people, and his ability to let things roll off his back allows him to find humor in all situations. These characteristics, however, often make him very frustrating to particularly serious people. He enjoys poking fun at those he deems uptight, viewing his teasing as a method he employs in order to help them open up and grow as people. It is not always the most effective.
However, his outward frivolity and lack of seriousness belies his deep and philosophical nature. Shunsui is capable of deep insights and incredible leaps of intuition, but he does not generally share his most private thoughts and feelings. It takes either very astute and philosophical people like himself to see that there is more to him than sake and flirtation, or it takes someone who intrigues him enough that he is willing to show his more serious sides. Both of these sorts of people appear to be few and far between.
Background:Shunsui taught Herbology at Hogwarts from age 24 until his death at 37. In that time, he became Hufflepuff's Head of House, known for his ability to diffuse situations with calm words and his pacifist nature. During his tenure as Herbology professor, the Divination professor at the time, a true Seer, told Shunsui that he would meet his true love after his life was over.
Prior to teaching, he attended Hogwarts where he excelled at most classes, though Herbology was his favorite, and best subject. After graduation, he took time off to travel the world and meet people from different cultures and countries. He even spent a year using no magic, to better understand the ways of Muggles. He found them to be incredibly intelligent, and he was impressed by their ability to invent around their lack of magic.
While living in the Muggle world, he made friends with several, due to his open and friendly demeanor. He was offered a job by the Ministry as Muggle Affairs Specialist, but he turned it down to pursue teaching. Shunsui could often be found enjoying the company of his Muggle friends. Desiring to fit in with them while in their world, he dressed in Muggle clothes and left all his magical things at home when he visited them.
One evening, Shunsui was enjoying an evening out with some of his Muggle friends, when he saw a horse and cart speeding toward a young girl. Knowing the destructive power of the animal and it's load, Shunsui threw himself in front of it and pushed her out of the way. He died almost instantly. Remembering the words of the Divination professor, Shunsui elected to remain as a ghost, and continued teaching Herbology until a replacement was found. He has been at Hogwarts ever since, offering advice and guidance to any student or professor who may be in need.
Blood: He was a full-blooded wizard, from the Japanese Kyouraku family. However, blood purity never mattered to him, and he befriended people of all origins.

Why you think they belong in this house? Shunsui is very loyal and peaceful. While he is both brave and intelligent, it is his search for tolerance and fairness in all things that truly defines him. I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

"Hey, Rangiku! Why do you have to take away all my fun?" He floated back and forth, putting the back of his hand to his forehead in a dramatic gesture. "You get the food, and the sake, and the women. All I have is floating through people and making them cold. Why, why Rangiku?" He sank to the ground in mock-despair, his ghostly straw hat falling over his eyes. "Rangiku, please, I beg you. Find a charm that lets me drink sake again."
