I require an emblem added to a necktie. Would that be within your area of expertise?

Yeah, I think this is their first time interacting with each other! pinkgingham May 23 2011, 16:38:29 UTC
Absolutely, I can sew an emblem onto your tie. What sort of an emblem do you have in mind?

[Doot doo doo, looking at the emblem...]

Oh yes, making this emblem for your tie will be easy to do. It shouldn't take too long, at least! Stop by my office anytime with a tie and I'll be able to make the symbol in a jiffy.

[Wow, that was quick! She opens the door with a smile.]

Hello there, you can come on in. Did you bring a tie?

I did.

(he holds it out, and takes off his jacket, handing it to her with the emblem up)

It must be within sight when I wear it.

All right, that can be done.

[She takes the tie with her to the desk and gets right to work, all the while starting up some small talk.]

So, how has your day been?

How long will this take?

(Oh Sable you poor dear, did you honestly expect this creepy man to make small talk? He pulls out a book, something with a picture of a spiral-arm galaxy on the cover)

Oh...uh, it will only take a few minutes.

[She turns around for a moment and notices that he's reading. Ohhhh, so he doesn't want to talk. Well, that's fine too! She turns back and continues working, humming quietly to herself.]

((He keeps reading for a minute or so before marking his place and peering over her shoulder))

The edging must be uniform. It cannot deviate from center.

((See that, Sable? He's pointing to an area that's maybe a millimeter unconformed))

[Oh dear, he's one of those types. Sable has dealt with picky customers before, but not in a while. It's a good thing that she's more cool headed in these types of situations.

So, she notices the area that Cyrus is pointing to, and initially sees nothing wrong with it. But, she does move the emblem just slightly to hopefully suit his needs. The client is always right, after all!]

Is this better?

The stitching remains faulty. That is a symbol that must be respected, not simply hastily assembled.

...patience, Sable...

All right, I understand. I'll work at this slower and more carefully, then.

[So she works on the stitching very slowly, in the meantime taking in some deep breaths just so she could stay calm.]

(That seems to be what he was after, and he hangs back, reading from his book again)

[It took a little bit longer than usual, but she was soon done attaching the emblem onto Cyrus's tie. After one final check just to see if everything was just as he wanted, she gets up from her seat and approaches him.]

Okay, it's all done! Here's your tie back.
