I got a job finally. It has been over a month that I have been looking, to no avail. Arizona is fairly dry it seems for jobs. I got turned down for Enterprise Car Rental, Blockbuster (yes...I got turned down by Blockbuster), and a number of other places. BUT, I landed myself a job at GoDaddy.com. It's a call center, and I don't particularly like being on the phone, but I figured that since it's an inbound call center, I don't have to be as pushy, so I'll feel better about it in the long run. That and I'm selling stuff that I know about, and that I feel is a bit more important than selling people shoes over the phone or something to that effect.
Now, the breakdown of the job and it's perks...I start at 12 an hour for 3 weeks, then go up to 13.50 an hour. Not much, considering my last job was 15 an hour, but if you factor in that I was only working about 20 hours a week for quite some time, until he dropped my hours to about 8 a week, then 0...then 13.50 an hour for 40 hours a week seems fantastic. Plus, if I sell enough stuff then I get commission checks. So basically, every two weeks I would get a paycheck, and then the weeks in between those checks I would receive a bonus/commission check. Plus, I will get full health/dental/optical for a grand total of $40 a month. It would be less if I wasn't still a smoker. I need to quit again. So another perk, 15 paid vacation days within my first year of employment...you know what that means to me...I can go to mother fuckin Disneyland for a week...and get paid to be there. Booyah. Then, to top it all off...they give out oodles of prizes all the time. One friend of mine has already won 2 42inch flat screen plasma tvs, as well as a few grand in money, and a few random things. Each year, they pick 6 people at random to win big prizes. 2 get a car or a motorcycle, whichever they want. 2 get their mortgage or rent paid for a year, and 2 get free trips around the world. Now I know most of this sounds too good to be true...but I don't care. I get paid again. Meaning I can finally start paying on my student loans again.
Yippee.
