Sophie & Sian - ONESHOT! :)

“Ahhh, ROSIE! Get out!” Sophie shrieked loudly, darting towards the bed and grabbing a pillow to hold against her naked body.

Rosie dramatically covered her eyes but nevertheless continued walking into the bedroom. “Sophie, why the hell stand naked in your room in the first place?” She peeked out between her fingers to look at Sophie who sank down on to her bed, still clutching the pillow to hide her nakedness.

“I was fake tanning obviously.” Sophie pointed towards the half-bottle of tan on the desk. “And have you ever heard of knocking?"

Rosie pointedly ignored the last comment. She glanced over at the bottle then over at Sophie, taking in her brown/orange skin. “Ew, Soph. Why you throwing that muck on for?” She screwed her forehead as she tried to work out the whole concept of fake tan.

“What do you think?” Sophie snapped irritably, fed up of her sister’s simple-ness.

“I don’t know. I never understand people who put it on in the first place. I mean, just go on holiday! I personally think it makes you look like one of them whaddya-call-its on that film with the crazy man, the one with Johnny Depp. Ya know, the orange little people."

Sophie rolled her eyes. “Oh yeah, I’ll just pop to Spain now! If your finished Roseh,  can you tell me why your're in my room?"

A look of confusion flooded her features as she tried to remember why exactly she came in to Sophie’s room. Suddenly she smiled widely.

“Oh yeah, Sian’s downstairs. Want me to send her up?"

Sophie practically felt her heart rate quicken and butterflies explode in the pit of her stomach as she heard that name. Sophie swallowed hard. She hadn’t seen Sian since the day she kissed her, and that was nearly 2 weeks ago. Sophie had thought she had seriously blown their friendship, all because she couldn’t control her urges. She remembered Sian being upset over Ryan and hugging her tightly to offer some sort of comfort. Sian was sobbing into her neck, the salty tears dampening her skin, her warm body fitting perfectly in her arms. That was when Sophie felt it, it seemed to overwhelm her, clogging her pores and taking over her senses - the feeling of love. It was so sudden, so strong, that it took Sophie by surprise. She’d always known that she’d loved Sian, but it was always as a friend, a best friend. But this was different. She had never felt it before, not with any of her ex boyfriends or even with Ben. In that moment with Sian sobbing in her arms, Sophie knew that she was in love with Sian. She had felt absolute hatred boil inside of her at the thought of Ryan hurting Sian like this, making her cry like this. In that moment, Sophie did the only thing to show how much she cared. She kissed her. When their lips touched it was … well, no words could describe the feelings Sophie felt. It was magical. Sophie did pull away if only for a brief second to check Sian’s reaction. Her eyes were closed and her forehead was scrunched up in confusion but her lips were still pursed. Sophie had immediately leant back in and, after a brief hesitation, Sian responded. Sophie swept her tongue in Sian’s mouth and it was the best feeling ever, feeling Sian’s tongue caress her own. But then, it all changed. Sophie felt hands roughly push against her chest as Sian broke away. She looked shocked and confused. “I’ve got to go,” were the last words she uttered before she ran out of the room.

“Soph?” Rosie’s voice flooded her thoughts.

“Um, Y-yeah. Send her up, I’ll just grab a dressing gown."

She waited till Rosie walked out of the room before getting up to wrap a dressing gown around her self. She glanced over at the mirror quickly. Her brown hair was tumbling out of her ponytail and her blue eyes glowed brightly against the darkness of her skin. She had to admit, it wasn’t too bad - she had bought the lightest fake tan after all and it wasn’t really orange. She sighed to herself, okay, maybe the fake tan was a bad idea.
From downstairs she heard Rosie address Sian, and then the quiet footsteps of someone mounting the stairs. Sophie inhaled deeply, quickly fiddling with her hair to make it appear neater by tucking a few strands behind her ear. A tentative knock came from outside the door.

“Come in.” Sophie’s voice was hoarse, and she coughed quickly to clear it. The door was pushed open and Sian walked in, an awkward smile on her face. Her eyes widened when she saw Sophie. Sophie looked away awkwardly. “Say it, go on, I know its bad."

Sian shook her head quickly, coming further in to the room. “Its not! Well, I mean it’s awfully um... dark int it?” Sian tries to hide a smile.

Sophie glanced at her and felt the butterflies flutter excitedly as she met Sian’s gaze. “Orange more like!” Sophie said, holding out an arm and inspecting it closely. “I swear it looked lighter in the bottle."

Sian laughs. “Well it looks alright. You look all right. It brings out your eyes."

Sophie gulped and giggled embarrassedly. She let her arm drop down to her side. Sian followed it with her eyes, before slowly dragging her gaze back up to meet hers. Sophie swore she saw Sian’s eyes pause briefly at her chest, only for a brief second, but she wasn’t sure. Sophie suddenly felt hot and cold, a million goose bumps erupted over her skin and her face flushed with heat, as Sian gazed at her intently.

“Th-thanks.” Sophie managed to say with difficulty unable to drag her gaze away. She felt that familiar feeling of being pulled deep into the depths of Sian’s eyes, it felt as if the whole world could explode or burst in to flames, and she wouldn’t notice or even care. Sian seemed to shake herself and cleared her throat loudly. She darted her eyes around the room, breaking the spell. Sophie felt air escape her lungs as she realised she’d been holding her breath. She watched Sian in awkward silence, not sure on what to say. Sian seemed preoccupied in inspecting the wall. Sophie glanced at what she was looking at, but only saw the usual wallpaper.

“Interesting wall huh?” Sophie said quietly.

Sian turned back quickly and laughed loudly. “Shut up Soph!” She shot her a smile and walked over to the bed, plonking herself down and picking up a small, fuzzy teddy with ‘forever friends’ sewn on its furry chest. After some hesitation, Sophie went over to join her. She sat at the end and leant against the wall, making sure there was lots of space between them. Sian clutched the teddy to her chest tightly.

“You got me that for my fourteenth birthday” Sophie says quietly, watching Sian’s fingers fiddle with it’s ears.

“I remember,” She says softly.

Another silence falls between them.

“Soph?"
 “Sian?"

Both girls stop and then burst out laughing. As their laughter trails off, Sian’s face goes serious and she takes a deep breath.

“Look, Soph I’m sorry. It’s just… you’ve totally dunked my head in."

Sophie looked at her confused. “How?"

“You and me! It never crossed my mind before."

“Really? Never?"

“No.” She glanced down at the bear then back at Sophie, her brow furrowed and a hint of doubt in her eyes.

Sophie scooted closer, making sure there was still space between them. “Well I don’t believe ya."

Sian looks away briefly and bit her lip before returning to meet Sophie’s eyes. She paused to think about her words. “I don’t fancy women. That’s not what I think about."

Sophie reached for Sian’s hand. Twining her fingers through hers. “I think about you."

Sian pulled away awkwardly, rubbing her hand up and down her leg to hide the awkwardness. Sophie’s face flooded with hurt and she looked down at her lap quickly, her heart sinking in her chest.

“Sorry, I’m just so, like, urrrgh! I do think about you now. I just don’t know where its come from.” Sian hesitantly reached for Sophie’s hand and played with her fingers. Sophie felt heat shoot up her arm and her whole body to tingle at the contact. She glanced up quickly.

“But it’s there?"

Sian nodded her head slowly, a small smile gradually forming. “I really missed ya." Sophie returned the smile and they both giggled.

Very slowly, Sophie leant her head towards Sian’s, watching intently for any sign of rejection. She was determined to pull away if Sian looked uncomfortable. But this time it was quite the opposite. Seeing Sophie lean in, Sian immediately copied her actions. Sophie’s heart hammered loudly in her chest as she felt Sian’s warm breath tickle her face, they both smiled at each other quickly, before their soft lips touched. Sian’s lips parted and Sophie swept her tongue against Sian’s, caressing it softly. Sophie almost died when she felt Sian’s hands reach up to tangle in her hair, holding her closely. Sophie reached out a hand to gently cup Sian’s cheek as the kiss deeply continued. Moments passed before they pulled away slightly, both gasping for breath. They stared at each other for a whole second before both of them giggled.

“What does this mean?” Sophie asks suddenly, “Are we like…"

“Don’t say it!” Sian exclaims between giggles.

“Yeah, but are we?"

“Going out?” Sian says shyly. They both burst out laughing at the weirdness of the situation. Sophie immediately felt the urge to kiss those soft lips again. She leant in and captured Sian’s lips, their tongues moving simultaneously together. Sophie’s skin tingled and her heart was beating erratically against her ribcage. Sian’s fingers curled in Sophie’s thick hair and Sophie wrapped an arm around Sian’s neck, pulling each other impossibly close. After a while, both of the girls reluctantly pulled away when air became an issue, both of their chests heaving up and down.

Sian giggled. “I feel dead weird!"

“So do I.” Sophie admitted.

“Hmm, I told you, you were messing with my head.” Sian joked. Sophie dug her fingers into her ribs and they both laughed. Sophie felt dizzyingly happy and sighed contentedly, leaning her head against the wall she pulled her dressing gown around her more securely. Sian leant against the headboard and reached for Sophie’s hand, she twirled her fingers through hers. They both stared at their entwined hands on Sian’s lap, a huge smile on both their faces. Sian glanced up.

“Do we say anything?"

Sophie thought for a second. “It’s no one else’s business."

Sian stared up at the ceiling, her fingers unconsciously playing with Sophie’s.  “Yeah, your right.” Suddenly she wrinkled her nose. “Urgh, that stuff smells Soph!"

“What stuff?"

“The fake tan you numpty! It smells like…” She inhaled deeply. “Like the kebab shop."

“Oh thanks Sian, you know how to dish out the compliments don’t you!” Sophie remarked raising her eyebrows.

Sian laughed shortly. “Did you put it on for any reason?"

Sophie shrugged her slender shoulders. “Not really, just wanted a change. I felt really down you know… after what happened and thought a tan would cheer me up, and since I couldn’t fly to Spain overnight I settled for the stuff in the bottle.” She shook down her sleeve to reveal the orange/brown skin. Sian held up her arm to compare colours, widening her eyes.

Whoa, dark in’t it. I look albino compared to you!” Sian joked. Sophie laughed loudly, her infectious laughter ringing around the room. “Seriously though, I’m sorry about what happened, it was just… I dunno, dead weird and I was really confused about what I was feeling and - "

“Sian, don’t worry about it,” Sophie interrupted. “Just don’t go running off again will ya?"

Sian smiled widely. “Definitely not.” She pulled Sophie closer and kissed her gently on the mouth before slowly deepening the kiss.
