so i wish i would have live-posted my thoughts about the Golden Globes last night while i was watching it, but that's only a priority if you have a huge readership (10 or more. i am like 9 away from that. lol.) i think this is one of the first times i've watched the show. it was amazing. those beautiful dresses!!
first off, Kate Winslet looked GORGEOUS. i loved her speech (i teared up when she was talking to Leo and her hubby in the 2nd one), her excitement, her emotion. it was as if that whole "Titanic" thing had never even happened. (which, btw, i was jilted when Leo didn't win the counterpart award for best actor for Revolutionary Road - i'd never even heard of that movie until last night, but it only seemed right that he should win, too!).
Sally Hawkins ("Happy-Go-Lucky") was the same way...i thought the poor girl was going to pass out!!
did Brad Pitt win anything? or Angelina? i'm thinking no, but i DID come into it 30 minutes late, so i might have missed it.
Maggie Gyllenhall...GIRL. i love you dearly, but that dress? blue leopard and foofy on the shoulder? hmm. not feelin' it.
Mickie Rourke looked like a$$. i don't know...dude has problems. (as an aside, what was up with both Johhny Depp and Drew Barrymore?!? Depp was talking all funky and Barrymore was all up on Jessica Lang)
loved Beyonce's necklace! and J-Lo actually looked demure? i still get Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek mixed up...don't ask how. oh, and Rainn Wilson rocked, of course.
i wish i could remember the stupid woman...um, the strawberry blonde towards the end who won for whatever...In Bruges, i think?? her dress was too short for her old knees (or for the GGs) and it looked like when someone takes out the inside of a cassette tape and balls it up...it was way too sequin-y...bet it was hella heavy.
Anna Hathaway and Laura Dern looked awesome (LOVED Laura's outfit, but i think the poor girl may need a hamburger? maybe she and Sally Hawkins can split one?)
i was glad to see Wall-E took home an award. oh, and Sting looked like crap and Peter Gabriel looks old.
half of these fargen movies i've never even HEARD of. and the only ones i've actually seen were Kung-Fu Panda and Wall-E. gosh, i'm cultured.
but i guess now i have to see a) all of the foreign films except Israel, b) A Raisin in the Sun with pdiddy, c) In Bruges, d) Revolutionary Road, e) The Reader, and f) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (after i read it).
so there. my lame, after-the-fact commentary. anyone else watch it? i stayed up the whole time! yay me!! thoughts?
