so, today is the CPT (College Placement Test). also the CMP (crap-my-pants). eek and ack.
fencing last night was pretty cool. STEVE!! IT CLICKED!! i was doing lessons with Don, and i was parrying. he kept telling me to parry with the strong, and i WAS!! but thennnn, i realized that duh, it's MY strong to his whatever. as long as i am using my strong, it doesn't matter where i make contact with his blade. this whole time i kept thinking i needed to parry my strong with his strong. haha. hence lotsa problems. but i realized what i had been doing, and he said the improvement was 200%. then he made me show Terry my mad parry skills. haha.
re: my cryptic "opportunities" post yesterday, i guess i can let the cat out of the bag. i was offered a temp position in accounting. my boss asked me about it yesterday morning, and then told me not to say anything. but then Nancy mentioned it, so i asked Sandy if she knew about it, and they both did. my boss told Marna this morning. so i guess it's okay to talk about it now since all of the crucial players know. they have the staffing agency looking for someone to temp up here, and then once they find that person and i train them for about a week, i'll move back to train in accounting. i'll train under Marna for a bit, and then i guess she will leave to take a short-term disability leave to try and manage her health issues. and then when she comes back, i'll resume my spot at the front desk. there's no telling how this is all going to go down, but as of now it's just a temp thing, and so i'm not getting any raise in pay (i didn't ask, but it wasn't offered). it would give me a break away from the desk and give me some experience in accounting. so far the only downside is that it might cause an issue with me doing my online classes. i talked to Liz this morning and she said Rob wouldn't have a problem with it. i figure if Marna can get a weeks' worth of work done in one day, there's no reason i wouldn't be FINE with working for 6 hours and doing school for 2, answering any calls that came in in the meantime and whatever. and Wednesdays i'd still have to come up for awhile and get the boxes set-up for scanning pick-up.
so there's that. i am only hoping that i have a job to come back to after all of this. i told my boss that my concern would be that they would like the temp person better than me, and so they'd not need me after Marna came back. she looked at me like i was crazy, so here's hoping. i would be severely pissed and raise a stink if they tried to lay me off afterwards. but we'll see how it all goes i guess.
other than that, things are okay. Betty needs a wash still, but i have to find a "soft-touch" carwash to make sure the paint doesn't get knocked off. if anyone knows which gas stations have those, please let me know.
my back near the base of my spine at my hips is hurting today for some reason. and my head was all pressure-y this morning. but it's not terrible.
we went to Ross at lunch and i got tony's mom a huge glazed terra-cotta frog for her garden or whatever and Nancy let us use her discount :P
off to TeacherTube (did anyone else know that existed??) to learn some math skills. :P
