Okay folks,
After a few weeks of mindless web surfing trying to find jobs to apply for, I've decided to try the employment agency placement route. I'm going to try to be placed into a full-time permanent position or at least a temporary position that can become permanent, the former would be more preferable. Maybe I can get into a company through the backdoor.
It would be really awesome if I can get placed into a decent paying position prior to having to use (or start dipping into) my 2 months' worth of severance pay from Yahoo. That way, I can use that money for something more fun than bills. Actually, I would use a little bit of it to pay off credit cards, but after doing that, I'd still have like $2,000+ to fiddle with :) So that is my goal now. I'm trying to land a non-customer service (or low customer service) position and I'm trying to get one that pays at least the same as Yahoo, so that my finances aren't messed up too badly.
Yesterday, we got a notice from our apartment company about renewing our lease in May. Fortunately, it appears that the rent hasn't gone up too horribly, so Jimmy and I think that we'll be able to afford it. So that's cool. Providing I get a job within the next couple of months. I think it'll also be easier to stay here, because according to the management office, I still work at Yahoo. It'll be easier to maintain that charade than to try and get approved for another apartment while unemployed.
It appears that Jimmy's job at Café Today is going to be improving. Word on the street says that he is being groomed to become a store manager of one of the new Café Todays that are being opened. His boss has been advised that he needs to be training Jimmy with the business/administrative aspect of running the restaurant. So that's pretty cool. I think that means that Jimmy will be salaried instead of hourly, and he'll get better benefits, plus bonuses and he'll get a share of the tips. Jimmy will get to be in charge of hiring and firing. Lol.
I also decided (while laying in bed trying to sleep anyway) that this year I want to have a birthday party. I thought that it'd be fun to have a party at my place with food and good drinks and hang out. Plus, we have Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and DDR (maybe I'd even get another Dance Pad so we could have competitions.) And of course, we have Wii. So there's many a Wii Sports, Mario Party and Super Smash Brothers that can be played. Plus we have a balcony, so people could hang out on the balcony and we have a "bar" so to speak around the kitchen and barstools, or two anyway. Plus, unlike last time some people were at my and Jimmy's place, we have furniture now!! :-D Anyway, this party I think could take place depending if I have a job and money by then. Hopefully I will.
I'm going to Salem this afternoon, I have to go to the orthodontist. I don't know why, but I guess I have to. This is the third teeth-related appointment I've had in 2 weeks. I'm getting tired of people looking in my mouth. Tomorrow is my sister's birthday, she's going to be 19! Can you believe it? Anyway, Saturday during the day we're doing Kristen birthday related stuff since my dad has to work Friday and Saturday night. So if anyone else is going to be in Salem this weekend, we could possibly hang out Saturday night!
Earlier this month, my dad broke his collarbone. He stayed home the entire week from both of his jobs. Anyway, so because he just had a week off, he didn't feel it would be right to ask for more time off. Lol. Anyway, don't worry about my dad, he's doing fine. Except the two pieces of his collarbone are going to heal on top of one another, so he has this really creepy feeling bump on top of his shoulder.
Finally, my last goal is to lose some of my flab, so that I can fit back into alot of my clothes. I think I probably need to lose about 20 lbs. I know it sounds like a lot, but trust me there are 20 excess lbs that need to go. Anyway, my goal is to have most of this lost by my birthday. I've already joined the gym, so that's good, but I'm really bad about going on a consistent basis. So I know I need to be better about that. My problem is nutrition, I know I need to eat better and limit soda intake and all that. I can't do diet coke, I'm sorry. And that Coke Zero crap is nasty. I suppose ultimately, I need to forgo the soda altogether. i realize that. I also know about the food pyramid and all that, but its a matter of applying it to my everyday routine. I also have a problem trying to come up with creative meals that don't involve processed foods. Does anyone have any advice?
