SIMPSONS QUOTE OF THE DAY:
BART (spelling 'impervious' in a spelling bee): I-M-P...
RALPH: Bart is pee! I made Bart in my pants!
okay now that that's out of the way ::drumroll please::
I GOT A JOB!!
Yesterday at approximately 5:20pm, my eternal job search ended. Yahoo! called and offered me a position as a "Client Advocate." I won't be making what was listed on the Career Builder website, so I don't know why it was on there--but I'm still going to be making way more than the $5/year I currently pull in at Borders, so all is good. I'm going to be getting about 25k/year, plus a 4k annual bonus that they pay out in increments every quarter. So every 3 months I'll be getting an extra thousand dollars--which I'm not going to complain about. So when all is done, I'll be pulling in about 30k give or take a little bit-- not too shabby!!
I'll also be joining Megan in not being one of the millions of people without health insurance. As part of my benefits package, I'll get full medical and full dental. Plus, one free vision exam which includes free glasses/contacts. So that's pretty good--even though I just got glasses last year. Haha. Anyway. Plus, there's alot of other awesome perks that I'll get. In the cafeteria, you can get all the free drinks and coffee you want. They have foosball and ping pong. And probably a bunch of other awesome stuff that I don't even know about yet. Plus, the best part of all: I CAN WEAR JEANS TO WORK. Oh yeah. Radical.
I'm supposed to get an email from them sometime where I think I'm supposed to accept the job offer again? Or something? I didn't really catch why I was being emailed, but whatever. Plus, I'm supposed to get a packet of information in the mail which I assume will have all my tax forms, benefits information and information about my orientation. My first day is May 29.
Today I'm going to go to Borders and pen my "I quit" note and put it on the manager's desk!! I can't give them the 2 weeks notice which is appropriate, but since they only give me 4 hours a week-- I don't think it really matters. And I think I'll probably royally screw over the inventory day, because I was penciled in as being an integral member of the inventory team-- but as Rhett Butler said in Gone With the Wind "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." Haha!
So, right now I don't have enough money to move into an apartment immediately, so my plan is to commute to Hillsboro for a month and then when I get my first paycheck, I'm going to use it to get an apartment. Probably in either Beaverton or Hillsboro. I want to be a little bit close to my job so that its easier to get there. Even though Yahoo! is located right next to a Max line, and I mean literally, the MAX station is right next door. But for all those days when I couldn't bear to ride the MAX or if I'm running late and will miss it, it'd be nice to live within like 20 minutes--and the Sunset Highway can get pretty bad during rush hour so I'd rather be able to avoid it if possible. I'm thinking maybe living in Beaverton because its a little more centrally located to all the action... But Hillsboro isn't that bad either. So we'll see.
And I believe Mr. James Ewing will be my roommate and he is (hopefully) being transferred to a Portland location of Cafe Today (he works in the Capitol building branch). He's already got it all arranged to leave the Captiol July 1, and take his 2 week vacation so he can move and be ready to work at his new place. I suppose if that doesn't work out he can also transfer to GameStop (his other job), but I'm thinking Cafe Today might bring the better hours. And hopefully he'll be able to start school at PCC and get some pre-reqs out of the way and develop a good transcript and then transfer to PSU, because we discovered that they offer the program that he wants to pursue. So watch out Portland, we should be there hopefully by July 1!! Where I 'fo sho will have to have a housewarming party sometime, and maybe even a birthday party!! Even though my birthday is on June 22, I've been requested by the fabulous Heather T Disney to not have a birthday party without her. Lol. And since she's so awesome I'm going to acquiesce to her request.
El Fin.
