ive been thinking about that shit lately. especially how it does fade in and out of peoples lives "I grew out of that" how can you grow out of something you believe in? thats b.s. it used to be you could walk any street and actually find an activist punk rocker, one that really did throw bricks and molotovs and at least tried to smash the state. the bands and the music held a message and even if you danced or not, everyone got along. now, you dance you get spit on. you dont you get punched. no one listens to the words, the same words that come out of their mouths as they scream along with the band, only caring about getting mic time. unfortunately, bands where that didn't matter, like crass and op ivy are no longer around. except maybe bands like against me! but even Tom is angry at the scene hes a part of. mad that he has to say "scene." mad that most of the kids there really don't know what he's singing about and really only do care about how they look and who else is there and have never even picked up a 7" and instead do download songs, a false song for the price they pay for it, nothing for electrons and that once they get out of highschool, it'll be all over anyway. no one cares. no one thinks about it anymore. they spike their hair and dye it blue and sit at home, maybe getting high when last time you saw them out there were Xs on their hands. reason why you can't find anyone on the streets anymore.
