the odds are even

so much has gone down since the last entry that i'm compelled to write. over a month's passed since the last entry, right? five weeks or so. and from august to january is the busy season with our friends.

Oct 16: itchy_sweater's '90s-Themed Birthday Bash
from what i can remember, it was fun. i was at odds with the two batches of cupcakes i assigned myself, but they were eaten up just the same. i made a drunk friend. it's like a single-serving friend, but with the awkwardness of social-networking, it's like we're going to be drunk friends for a while. cameron was put off the entire time and didn't talk to anyone. dylan and i went as third-wave ska kids. he got into it with a stupid bitch, and alan dropped the ban-hammer on her for future parties. the entire party made me miss ariel and grace. i left the valley at around three, getting home at around four-thirty with enough time to take an hour's nap and get to work with what would have been a hangover if i got a night's sleep.

Oct 30: eldefroster's Annual Dylloween Hallobirth Bash
the birthday boy himself was held up at a sister-city meeting for the first two hours of the party, but luckily there was enough booze and a little bit of pizza to tide over the early arrivals. when he showed up, he set to work trying to catch up and ended up overshooting it. this was probably the best costume turnout i've seen in a long time at these parties. i think we're getting to that age where it's super fun to dress up for halloween again. i have pictures but i'm too lazy to put them up right now. maybe in a month i'll rejuvenate people's interest in halloween costumes by posting them. the day after the party cameron and i took dylan to island's where he bought the birthday-boy a hangover burger. i also carved my first pumpkin EVER this year.

Nov 4-7: Pug-Sitting Part Deux
i spent this pug-sitting session severely under the weather, mostly watching TV with the puggies and marveling at how often family guy is aired in a single day. whenever i forget why i don't drink, i remember when the cold sets in. alcohol does a number on my immune system. i don't know how any of you survive it.

Nov 11: sleepintrashcan's Birthday Tour
we went to disneyland for a few hours and worked up quite an appetite for dinner at Outback Steakhouse with dylan, who just returned from the UK at the time, cameron who no longer has a pass, and jacKiyo who were there drinking before we showed up for food. steak and onions all around, like a man's birthday. not to worry, birthday-girl got a gingerbread martini, complete with a little cookie man floating on a buoy of whipped cream. i smelled like dkny be delicious all day. i'm pretty sure it's love.

[some stuff happened here, i'll get to it later]

Last night: Harry Potter Midnight Show
this was my first midnight harry potter show. i felt old there among the drama kids in scarves with wands, especially when i stepped outside momentarily in my ravenclaw socks and patch, but it didn't make me want to see the movie any less. the treat this time was getting to see three of my lovelies from the bux, incl. roda, giselle, and miss steph-who-had-so-much-breakdown-that-day. i may have really enjoyed working at peet's for the customers, but without something to rally against i seem to have difficulty making friends.

November in general, so far
to say the very least, i'm not fond at all of this foul month of the year. i seem to have spent most of it in a bad mood, or worse, in a chipper mood intended to mask the bad mood lurking underneath. historically speaking (starting in 2003), aside from the very beginning of the month and the consumption of food in later parts of the month, november has always been shitty. this one's proving not to be any different.
