New Job at the Hospital.

This morning I went to the Hospital and met with H.R. to get some paperwork done. I also had to do some strength and lifting tests conducted by a funny gay dude, and give a urine sample and blood samples to be tested for Mumph immunity and some other crap. Tetnis I think. I also got a general physical.

The people in H.R. gave me a paper with really bad directions on it how to get to the different departments. It took me at least ten minutes to find the Health Occupations offices because the directions were so poor. They actually directed me to the Guest Housing Building and I had to just poke around til I found the door I needed in some random alley way. Ooookay...

Some sort of amusing things happened.

While registering for a few procedures I was asked twice what my religious preference was. This was stuffed between my date of birth and social security. I said that I had no preference but basically I sort of felt as if someone asked me my sexual preference. It is totally irrelevant and a weird question for an employer to ask. I suppose since it is a hospital they need to know in case I decide to expire on my shift. They can call a priest or guru or whatnot to watch me die.

The lady who took my urine sample was barely four feet tall and had an accent. She told me that I had to fill the cup up all the way and pointed to a line that said 'maximum'. I was only able to piss up to the 'minimum' mark which was actually halfway full. It was funny because she had me follow her into this big bathrrom and she stood there by the toilet while I washed my hands but after I finished she just stood there and I was thinking "what now... is she going to assist me or something?" I am used to the nurse handing you the cup, pointing to the door and saying go for it.

I got my blood drawn by a guy who was around my age. He asked me if I was going to be a good patient and then told me if I wasn't he would punish me by digging around in my veins. Oh lord. I detest needles and can't bear to look so I was looking away while he filled up two tubes of blood. He had to milk my veins for it. After he had done he stood there with the two vials of dark burgundy blood and kept talking to me but I could see the blood and I couldn't speak correctly my mind was a total blank and I kept laughing. I can't afford blood loss man!

Also after I got my blood drawn I went back to H.R. and the woman was just going over some papers and I started getting teary eyed and wailing to myself internally that I wanted my blood back. Then I realised that I was being ridiculous and snapped myself out of it. Woah. At least I didn't faint since I am hypoglycemic and it usually happens after I get blood drawn.

Anyway, on Sunday I need to go back for someone to look at my T.B. patch and at some point I also need to get some other papers completed since I neglected to bring my S.S. Card with me. I'm sure she told me to but I didn't remember.

Anyway, my Orientation is May 14th and 15th. I wish it was sooner because I only have like 300 bucks to last me for food, gas, and odds and ends. I'm probably going to borrow money from my grandma because she is awesome like that. At least I have my rent money. Wish me luck.
