Imagine laundering that many sweaty Santa suits!

Nicky's at work on a late shift, and I have a cold and am currently snuggled on the sofa with my iPad (which is my early Christmas present from Dad and Sue, and is my favourite thing ever!) and a box of tissues, feeling a bit sorry for myself.

My work rented out a cinema again for Harry Potter on 19th November which was totally awesome, and thankfully I was surrounded by people who either share my geekiness or think it's endearing, so I wasn't mocked too much for taking notes during the film! I haven't read any reviews of the film, either before watching it or afterwards, and Nicky and I took her mum to see it again at the IMAX on Saturday (huge, but no 3D in this one.) Just thought I'd get my thoughts on the film out there after a second viewing! I've only actually read the book right through once, so I was suprised how much I remembered when I was watching the film.

Things I loved:
Hermione obliviating her parents. I was crying my eyes out before we were five minutes into the film.
Apart from the muggle clothes (and Narcissa) the Malfoy Manor scene was just perfect.
The seven Potters! Just genius!
The power lines all going down with the wrath of Voldemort was very cool.
"They are coming." spine-tinglingly awesome.
The cafe was perfect, as was the Ministry break-in, the leaflets and the distraction.
New style even creepier dementors!
Godric's Hollow was just how I had imagined it.
I loved the doe patronus, the sword in the water, Ron's return and the destruction of the locket (except for the weirdly inappropriate nakedness of Harry and Hermione!)
The animated Story of the Three Brothers was a brilliant way to do it, and it worked really well.

Things I can't believe they changed:
Why did Harry have to be introduced to Bill when he's known him for years? And why was his scar so small? He was supposed to be disfigured!
Hedwig should NOT have been flying free, nor was it her fault that the real Harry was found out. Where was the expelliarmus?

Things they just got wrong:
There were muggle clothes at Malfoy Manor, at the Ministry and at Bill and Fleur's wedding. Just wrong!
George's ear was pretty much still there. It was supposed to be completely gone apart from a hole surely?
Harry wasn't in disguise at Bill and Fleur's wedding. I was looking forward to seeing him as a Weasley cousin.
I don't think that the effect of wearing the locket was shown strongly enough. Harry, Ron and Hermione just seemed a bit moody.
Narcissus Malfoy is just awful. She's been mis-cast and she wasn't given any character development. It's a shame because she's so important in the next film.

Things I wish they hadn't left out:
The scene where the Dursleys say goodbye to Harry.
The ghoul disguised as Ron with spattergroit.
At the Weasley wedding - where's Charlie? He's supposed to be the best man!
At the Ministry - where's Percy?
Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow without being disguised with polyjuice.
Luna's bedroom and the mural of all her friends.
Seashell cottage at the end of the film. We don't know that they're safe at Bill and Fleur's.

harry potter, work
