woke up late, had to dress and leave in about 3 mins and forgot to put belt on... so spent whole day holding trousers up with one hand, and selling books with the other. bought northern lights by philip pullman though... going to read it tonight, and will probably spend tomorrow gnashing things and holding bookshop up at teethpoint until they open and sell me the subtle knife and the amber spyglass so i can finish the trilogy and sleep safe in the knowledge that i know how it all ends...

also must read nightwatch by terry pratchett as got it for christmas. fave pratchett book (apart from the gaiman/pratchett collaboration obviously) is the amazing maurice. fab book

oddly enthralled by the series of unfortunate events by lemony snicket. have books the first (the bad beginning) and third (the wide window)... and have read books the second (the reptile room) and fifth (the austere academy). have compulsion to buy them all, but am curbing it for time being. managed to read first two thirds of book the eighth (the hostile hospital) today in idle moments in the bookshop... was probably my favourite so far... must own/have read all nine by the time book the tenth (the slippery slope) comes out, have decided

and finally... popular opinion by family and friends on the rat is that it's a squirrel. typical. instead of a common or garden rat like most people have, we get a gay rat with a poncey show-off tail
