don't make me bridle your unbridled enthusiasm!
today i spoke to someone with the same name as me! i was like blah blah normal work conversation, blah blah let me find your record, blah blah is that... *looks at screen and almost has a heart attack then has to say her own first name and surname* the rest of the office went silent and then everyone burst into hysterics whilst i had to attempt to sort this woman's problems out without my voice cracking. it was a weird moment, even though my name is common as muck.
i left the office for a minute to try and stop laughing, waited with two women who were standing by the lifts, registered vaguely that one of them was from my office and then snippets of their conversation filtered into my ears and i was like hmmm that voice sounds familiar... looked round and the other one was an ex Blue Peter presenter! i did actually know that she is friends with our managing director, but wasn't prepared to bump into her in the lift. television personalities from one's childhood should not be allowed to randomly appear in one's workday unannounced, surely?
the rest of the day was far less eventful, although i did go for an hour's ski practice at the dry slope this evening, which was fab.
