i'm a post title MACHINE!

and so begins my five-day solitary confinement (indoors anyway, there are tourists a-plenty outside)... Jen and Abi left for England this morning - now i have no excuse whatsoever not to get stuck into my dissertation research. i've started on the procrastination tactics already. i've been out to the post office to collect a parcel of very boring german books, opened said parcel, realised that three of the books aren't even relevant, arranged with amazon.de to send them back, spent ages working out how to save the returns label pages as pdf files so i could take them down the road to print them out, before noticing at the bottom of the page where it says exactly what to do if you don't have access to a printer, and made up two parcels of said non-relevant books to take to the post office on monday. there has also been the bare minimum of grocery shopping to last me the weekend, i've done all the washing up, cleaned the hob and re-arranged the inside of the fridge... now there are 12 very boring-looking books staring at me intimidatingly and i've run out of reasons why i shouldn't pick one up. here goes.

7.30pm update on the distraction techniques: arranged boring books in size order, read every article on the BBC news page including the pages for wales (got outraged at 50% rise in parking fees at swansea hospital) and scotland (horrified by hotel robbery at samurai sword-point), made a cup of tea, chatted on msn about blue shoes, enjoyed the novelty of leaving the bathroom door unlocked, cooked dinner (baked potato with philadelphia, cherry tomatoes, carrots and cabbage), washed up, watched an episode of scrubs, made instant coffee.
