there's a funny smell in my house, it sort of smells like dead things (which i can identify, because my bedroom when i was a teenager was above a country estate's abbatoir and the smell in summer was pretty ripe). i wonder what died.
i got my final holiday pay cheque from the bookshop today, so i trundled into worcester to pay it in, pausing briefly at a pet shop to buy violet a cool underwater castle to play in. i put it in her tank when i got home and she looked at it in horror, like it was an oddly-shaped ceramic rival fish invading her territory, but after i fed her and she realised the castle wasn't actually trying to steal her food, she became a bit braver and actually touched it with one fin. i wonder how long it will take her to notice that there are handy goldfish-sized holes in it for her to swim through.
i also went on a spree in lush to stock up for my travels (though there might be a new lush in vienna since i was last there, which means i won't have to live without my essential hot java bath bombs), and bought christopher paolini's second book 'eldest', with the purchase of which i got a free t-shirt. it's a cool maroon with a dragon on the front. if only it didn't say the book title, author and
www.kidsatrandomhouse.co.uk in massive writing, i could actually wear it in public. in other news, i just ripped my favourite pair of summer pyjama bottoms by accidentally catching my right toe in the left leg and continuing to walk, and my stomach hurts because i denied it all sustenance today apart from copious amounts of caffeine, then made it digest tuna sandwiches this evening and it's rebelling.
