one of the regulars in the coffee shop i go to came and sat with me this morning whilst i was happily inking harry potter fanart, and there followed one of the most hate-filled conversations i have ever been an involuntary participant of. i was actually being talked AT rather than TO most of the time, he didn't seem to need much encouragement. it started with talking about a lovely waiter who had left a few weeks previously - apparently (though i doubt it could have been the actual reason) sacked for being gay. this man then went on to expound on how "queers" are odd and should practically be locked away. all of this whilst i'm sitting there seething inside, but incapable of defending myself. the conversation progressed through wales, physics a-level and horse racing to the london bombings, and ended on his belief that america and britain should H-bomb iraq and afghanistan to - in his words - "sort out the problem". i couldn't believe what i was hearing.
i walked the few miles up the road to mum's house from the bus stop through literally thousands of flying ants, crickets, butterflies and thunderflies. i must have looked like i was doing some sort of crazed tribal dance, flicking them out of my hair and off my body every few seconds! when i arrived there were still ants in my hair, thunderflies on my face and two crickets in my shopping bag! mental.
also saw the fantastic four at the cinema, it was pretty good. AND mum and i went through my entire cupboard (massive job) tonight and had a big clear out. sadly, it is time for the big white bear that my friend tilly won for me at a fairground to depart my life. he's seriously huge. anyway, i shall be so glad when i have my own flat and everything i own is all in one place. that won't be for another two years at the very least, but a girl can dream...
