The Peter Petrelli edition.

Title: Four-Hundred Floors
Pairing: Adam Monroe/Peter Petrelli
Rating: PG
Summary: Adam once explained immortality to Peter...

Adam once explained immortality to Peter as being trapped in a glass elevator. He relayed it all with little affectation or emotion, and that, much more than tears or clenched fists, helped Peter to understand.

You can observe the world, he said. It never falters; it is all around you, every minute of every day, and you don’t miss a single detail. But for the most part, you can’t touch it, you are incapable of affecting it. The lift climbs higher, and the world gets smaller and grows farther away, until you are separated not only by a sheet of glass, but by space and time. Buildings, people, and the shape of the earth itself change into something unrecognisable as they fade into the distance.

His fingers ghosted from Peter’s neck to the short hairs on his head, and Peter reacted like static electricity was being shot through him.

You see, I am too high above the world to be touched by anyone in it, he finished lightly, but that presents no problem for a flying man, now does it?

Title: Spark
Pairing: Peter Petrelli/Elle Bishop
Rating: PG
Summary: She slid in and shut the door again, sparks between her fingers illuminating the darkness like tiny stars.

“Hey, Peter!” Elle chirped, peeking through the crack of the open door. Peter sat up in bed, squinting into the thin pillar of light. She slid in and shut the door again, sparks between her fingers illuminating the darkness like tiny stars. “Wanna have a sleepover?”

“Elle?” he asked, still groggy. “What are you doing here? What time is it?”

“Late,” she said, nudging his legs aside and crawling onto the opposite end of his cot. She crossed her legs in front of her. “I was wondering what you were up to.”

“I was sleeping,” he said, half annoyed and half skeptical. “Why weren’t you?”

“Couldn’t.” She gave a noncommittal shrug, then whispered conspiratorially, “The camera can’t see us in the dark, you know.”

He remembered Adam’s warning about Elle and his moment of weakness, and said, “Elle, I just want to sleep.”

“Me too!” she said, batting him on the knee. “What were you thinking, pervert?” Her silhouette grew closer as she crawled up to his side, drawing back the blanket. “Move over, would you? This isn’t exactly a queen-size.”

Incredulous, he did as she asked, even when every alarm in his head was going off. She was going to shock him, or kill him - why else would she be here?

“You’re so tense,” she said once she’d settled in and pulled the blanket up to her shoulders. “Would you relax? I’m not going to kill you. If anything, you’ve got all the control here, Big Spoon.” She wiggled a bit to accent her point, back to his chest.

Hesitantly, he laid his arm over her waist. It was the only comfortable way to sleep, wedged between her and the wall with no space to move. She wove her fingers through his and nestled in even closer.

“Why couldn’t you sleep?” he asked, his warm breath caught between his mouth and her neck. He hoped she wasn’t there because she’d accidentally set her bed on fire. Did she spark in her sleep?

“Bad dreams,” she said frankly. “Night, Peter.”

Something told him it wouldn’t be wise to ask what those dreams were about, and not for the first time he yearned to have his telepathy to use on Elle. No one was born evil, in his experience - not even Sylar. Was Elle dreaming about what had made her this way?

Finally he relaxed, and even allowed himself to wrap his arm around her a bit tighter. “Sure. Goodnight, Elle.”
