Gay Globes....I mean, Golden Globes

Jan 17, 2006 14:41

As some of you might know, Brokeback Mountain won the Golden Globe for best drama last night. A little background on the movie = it's about 2 queer cowboys who have families of their own but go up on this mountain for a "cattle drive" or something, but the only thing they accomplish is herding their beef into each other's caves. (I know what you're ( Read more... )

You should have heard me talking to Fig about this topic last night. I was pissed off pretty bad. Not only did it not take no talent or effort to make this movie (I'm mean seriously Cowboy's + Gayness), but it took one of the most manliest roles of society and turned it into fruit. Brokedick Mountain's idea reminded me of "Springtime for Hitler" from the movie/broadway musical "The Producers." It was like they were trying to bomb, but it ended up being a success. (sidenote: I do understand the irony that I've been ripping on a gay movie and then gave a comparison to a broadway musical, which in it's own right can also be perceived as gay, so haha I guess)

Sorry about the triple negative in sentence 3. Actually I was quite amazed by it. I've never used a triple negative before.

Also, sorry and the "I'm mean", it should read I mean.

The Brokedick was on purpose (comedy relief)

As you can see I was very flustered when writing the last comment

But seriously, go see The Producers. It's worth it just for Will Ferrell

Ignorance comes in all forms. I am glad Brokeback Mountain won four Golden Globe Awards. It is easy for straight people in the world because EVERYONE assumes everyone is straight. It sucks when you have to tell your parent's, friends, co-workers, etc etc you are gay. Why is that? Well I guess it is because of ignorant people such as the one's who have been posting here. Stop judging, and let people live their lives.

LOL, the rarely used, seldom seen TRIPLE NEGATIVE! It's quite an amazing feat, actually. Kudos on pulling it off. I'm glad to hear that you were just as riled up about this topic as I was....Please, let's judge something on it's artistic merit and the level of acting skill instead of the political statement it is trying to make. It's like the whole Academy (or whoever-the-funk voted for the GG's) is a bunch of 7th grade girls who vote for the hot guy for student body president, even though he's obviously the least qualified and the most uninterested candidate. Junior high, that's about the level they're at right now.

Before judging on something, explore deep down beneath its surface. Saying that Brokeback Mountain is a gay movie simply shows your ignorance. See it first! Be open-minded. Think about things in life. What do you think if people comment that you're a slut just because you dress sexily? I'm a heterosexual guy (love intelligent women more than anything) that fits the sterotype of muscle man, yet I found myself deeply moved watching the movie. It's a well-directed, well-acted movie. Watching it, there wasn't so much gayness. There's so much more humanity, happiness, choices that people have to face in life. Educate yourself!!!

It seems as though you should take your own advice. Using phrases like "judging on something" and made-up words like "sexily," displays your own ignorance. When telling others to educate themselves, it's always a good idea to not write like a 5th grader; it just makes you look stupid. As for the movie, I'm glad you enjoyed it. However, this is my journal and I can (and will) post about any topic I want. If you don't like what I have to say, don't read my journal. Finally, if you're going to post a comment I think it's pretty cowardly to do so anonymously. Please, if you're telling me what you think, at least have the guts to sign in and take ownership for your opinion.

Have the guts to sign in and take ownership of your opinion? Give me a break....

You and just about everyone who has posted on here want to judge gay people. Why would we want for you to know our identities, so you could judge us by name?!?! I really hope that you stop being ignorant and allowing such hate words as, "fags, homos, etc etc" on your page. But then you probably enjoy hating, which is sad. I really feel sorry for you as a young person for being so close-minded and hypocritical. Just because you may be beautiful on the outside you are showing your ugliness on the inside. What is inside is what matters most. Peace be with you in your hate, and the hate that other's have expressed here.

You're clearly a homo, whatever. But I love that you -the anonymous jackass- actually wastes your time by commenting on my blog. I don't go around reading (and certainly not POSTING on) random blogs....Why are you? Here's a suggestion...stand up, walk over to your closet, and get back in!! I really don't care about your gay propaganda, so please peddle it anonymously elsewhere. Thanks, and may God be with you!

Reading these arguments have made my day. It's funny to see that a person you don't even know has taken offense so greatly to your opinion. Oh wait I feel like being ignorant for a second, so I need to say a few words. Fag, fagitini, fago, homo, pole-smoker, dick skinner, buck futter (SNL), butt pirate, let's play tummy sticks, it's time for butt darts, and Richard Simmons. Ok much better. Wow after saying all those gay words I need a vagina to cleanse my soul. How's tomorrow sound Joanster? haha
