Freaking AWESOME concert last night! The lads out did themselves. Dave and I got there early and had a chance to scope out the stage door and take a picture of the bus, ocean scene with New Foundland and Labrador writen on the side. The lads were playing frisbee in a field behind the bus but we didn't go bother them, mostly cause I was too shy. Hee. The opened with Captain Kidd and played a bunch of songs from the new album. (Come and I Will Sing You, Old Polina, River Driver, The Mermaid, Graceful & Charming, Concerning Chorse, Tickle Cove Pond, and I think Harbour LeCour). Excursion Around the Bay, Ordinary Day, When I'm Up, The Night Pat Murphy Died, Donkey Riding, General Taylor, Mari-Mac, Lukey, Donkey Riding, I'm A Rover, Sea of No Cares, Scolding Wife, A Boat Like Gideon Brown, Shines Right Through Me (maybe?), When I Am King, Beat the Drum, Helmethead, Run Runaway, and a GREAT acapella version of Old Browns Daughter for the second encore. I'm sure I've forgotten a couple..but I can't remember. They also did a section where Alan played the opening strains to popular song then the crowd sang the rest for seveal lines. (I fought the Law, Summer of '69, and a few others) They sold out the Southern Theatre, all three tiers, given that's still a small theatre but very well for a band like GBS. I got several pictures during the concert, hopefully some of them came out well since I couldn't use the flash. We shall see. I busted a bunch of blood vessels in my hands from clapping so much and so hard, clapped for most of the concert. Suprised my calves and the balls of my feet don't hurt from bouncing around either. Our seats were right in front of Alan so I got to look at his looooovely hair all night. They are a great band and perform brilliantly. Dave enjoyed himself immensley and insisted I burn him copies of all their CDs now. Muahaha, I've finally paid him back for getting me hooked on U2. Only took me a decade to do it!
After the second encore Dave and I high tailed it out of the theatre round back to try and catch the lads before they disappeaed into the night and get pictures and autographs. We waited arond for about a half hour before Alan came out and signed and took pictures. I have a picture with Doyle! *squeeee!!!!!!!* Hopefully it will come out. (Else Dave will be sporting bruises) Apparently the other lads must have RAN out of the theatre after the second encore for the bus so they could catch some more playoff hockey, (They are all HUGE hockey fans, mostly the Habs but Murray is a Leafs fan. Alas the Habs lost last night in overtime. But they are still up in their series so that's good.) Alan said everyone was on the bus and Dave and I did not see Sean or Murray or Kris leave while we were back there and we were the first people back there waiting. I would have liked to have hugged Sean but Alan was plenty, I was already on cloud nine just from being at the concert and seeing them up close and personal after being a fan for so many years.
Suprisingly I was able to fall asleep rather quickly once we got home around midnight. I suppose its cause I knew I had to be at work at 4. Spew. David ended up calling me a few minutes at 4 this morning and lucky for me he did or else he woulda been sitting the parking lot until 5 when Bergman and Bunner came in. Heh. So I had a little trouble waking up, can you blame me? David did let me leave early since I got all my work done and cleared off the tables from the shipments that came yesterday, so I came home and slept for several hours. Still have their songs running through my head, probably will for several more days now! I really wish I could have gone to Nashville tonight to see them perform there. Or just see them perform again, so great live. I'm sure I'll be on cloud nine for quite a while longer. *bounce*
