vacation vacation
i feel like i've missed a lot being out of town over vacation... but i guess i always do when i read through livejournals after not doing so in a while. haha
so i was down in florida until late thursday night, and it was really really fun. i spent saturday night to monday morning at my godparents' house in palm bay, and it was awesome to get to see them after a few years. they are such interesting people. they're so unafraid to go out and try new things that i really envy everything they do. they used to live in nh, but when i was a kid they moved to malaysia. kind of out of the blue i think. and they've lived a whole bunch of other places, too, but i forget where at the moment. and they travel, like, all the time. can you imagine making that kind of decision though? i'd love to be able to just pick up my stuff and move to the other side of the world because i want a change. i don't know if i could do it. anyway, they decided to settle down in florida after a while, and they have two houses down there, which are amazingly beautiful and open and relaxing-- and their lifestyle is very go-with-the-flow. we ate dinner at like 9:00 each night because there were other things to do during the day, like going to the beach or laying around or going to church..i really enjoyed not having a set schedule. and they're really, really cool people. it was nice to catch up.
anyway- then from monday night to thursday morning we went to disney. haha. totally the opposite of relaxing on a beach, but it was hella fun. i completely transformed into a little kid again. i danced with mickey, i went on the stupid little 'its a small world' ride, and i stood there looking up at the big epcot golfball (spaceship earth..whatever) in awe. so fun. haha. we went to all of the parks in two days, so we were pretty busy, but i did everything i wanted to. we were pretty laid-back about it all. just kinda going to whatever roller coaster we felt like at the time and not worrying about being at a certain place at a certain time. very chill for disney world. there were pretty much no lines anywhere. the longest one was probably a half hour, so that helped with being able to do everything. ooh!! oh and i went on a safari in animal kingdom and saw zebras and giraffes and hippos. wicked sweet, lemme tell ya. anywho, it was quite the trip. i even got along with my parents, for the most part.
so then we came back to the snow yesterday..bah humbug. and we went to a hockey game yesterday- which was cold. but hey, i guess vacations always end and eventually you have to come back to normal life. im too bummed out.. i've missed you guys. i hope your week was fantastic!!!
as a side note, i started reading a new book last night about the whole arab-israeli deal. good golly. its so captivating, and so sad. i read one chapter and it already made me cry. its crazy to think that i came back from israel a whole year ago. i can still remember everything so vividly. that trip deffffinitely changed something in my head- and i can see the difference, now that it's had some time to settle in. i have a feeling i'll be going back there more than once in my life, and i cant wait. i feel a connection to these people and to their struggle that i cant explain. and i don't fully understand it, but i feel like making the effort to do so will make a difference somehow.
