So I went to see the Book of Mormon last week and I'm only getting around to writing about now. I blame my laziness. XD
Anyway, if you haven't seen the Book of Mormon yet, What are you waiting for?! Go! See it right now! It is so worth it.
Definitely not for people who like their musicals squeaky clean. There is a lot of foul language and a lot of the topics are controversial. But I feel like the Book of Mormon didn't trivialize anything and it handled everything very well...for those who enjoy that type of humor.
Before, I had only listened to the soundtrack ,and I must say it was wonderful to finally see the motions and the acting that accompanied the lyrics. My favorite song is the opening number "Hello" and I must say now I will always be pretending to press doorbells whenever I listen to the song. Also, the show made me appreciate "Turn it Off" even more, just with the mental image of all the sparkly pink vest worn during the number.
And I found that some of the songs that I didn't enjoy just listening to the soundtrack ("Joseph Smith All American Prophet" and "Man Up") were much better when seen live. "Sal Tlay Ka Siti" was the low point in the show. I took a quick snooze during it, though in my defense, I had too much to drink (read one drink).
My new favorite bit now is the later part of "Tomorrow is a Latter Day". I love the new missionaries! Especially when they praise the mud huts and then leave when threatened. XD
All in all, the Book of Mormon was superb. A+++ I am ready to see it again!
