Sequel of
He, the boyfriend of my sweet boy friend.
Yuto didn’t know for how long he had been staring at the page, repeating the same line over and over again. He lost count of how many times he had been repetitively finishing reading the paragraph and had to start from the top again. It’s like he had been stuck on the same page and had to read it all over again but no matter how many times he read it he just couldn’t move on to the next page. Yuto let out a heavy sigh and started to read the sentence from the top, again!
As Yuto’s eyes reached the second line of the paragraph, his mind had already gone off to somewhere else. What had happened to him? Yuto didn’t know, each time he tried to focus on something he would end up like this. Maybe because he had been thinking of that person, it’s wasn’t this bad before. But after that weekend, it was getting worse day to day. Yuto’s mind thought of nothing but that person’s image, his ears heard nothing but that person’s voice, his eyes saw nothing but that person’s face and his heart yearned for nothing but that person.
“Yuutii…” A hand touched pulled Yuto from his wonderland.
“U-urm…Yah? what is it?” Yuto asked the person seated across the table.
“Are you okay?”
Yuto nodded his head slightly and smiled, “Yah of course. Why?”
“I’ve been calling you, but you didn’t say a word to me”
“Gomen Chinen. I’m just too engrossed with my reading,” Yuto made up an excuse.
“Its okay,” Chinen smiled and rubbed Yuto’s hand with his, trying to warm it up.
Yuto rubbed Chinen’s hand which seemed to be cold in return. Maybe it was because the temperature in the library was quite low or it was because they have been sitting there long enough to turn down their body temperature. Yuto looked at the smaller guy in front of him and started to count. It’s already being 5 months since he met Chinen and agreed to be his boyfriend.
Chinen Yuri, a sweet and lovely person. He had the type of face that whenever you laid eyes on him you would never want to take your eyes off the face. He had the personality that makes everyone around him adore and love him. To cut in short Chinen Yuri was a perfect person and Yuto knew that. Everyone keeps telling Yuto how lucky he was for having Chinen as his boyfriend, and Yuto also felt the same without others needing to tell him that.
But regardless of that, somehow Yuto found he can’t look at Chinen as a lover. His heart won’t open up for Chinen, the feelings that he had for Chinen weren’t more than love as a friend. Their relationship started as one sided love but Yuto promised that he will try his best to love Chinen in return. But up until now Yuto can’t keep his promise, because his heart kept its door shut for Chinen Yuri.
But when Yuto met that person his heart acted completely the opposite way. His heart acted strangely. It beat louder than usual, and it longed for no one but that person. Yuto knew he was the worst, for having this feeling towards someone else when he was in a relationship with Chinen. And the worst part of it, the feeling the Yuto had towards someone else is for Chinen’s best friend, Yamada Ryosuke. Yamada Ryosuke is that person that Yuto was deeply in love with.
At first Yuto thought the feeling was nothing more than jealousy of seeing how close Chinen was with Yamada. It’s normal to feel jealous when you saw your boyfriend was so close with his best friend. But reality hit Yuto when he realized that he was feeling envy of Chinen. It really irritated Yuto when he saw Yamada smile sweetly, laughing happily and touching Chinen dearly. But when Yuto tried to make a conversation with him, Yamada acted coldly and it really broke Yuto’s heart. How Yuto wished he can be in Chinen’s place so that he will have Yamada Ryosuke only for himself.
“Yuto-Kun, where are you going after this?” Chinen asked as they packed their things up and got ready to leave the library.
“Photo studio, there an assignment that I need to do.”
“Really?” Chinen seem a bit disappointed.
“Why?”
“I thought of going for lunch.”
“I’m sorry Chinen, but I need to submit the assignment by next week,” Yuto felt guilty.
“Urmm… it’s okay, don’t worry about me” Chinen smiled. He took his cell phone out of his bag and dialed a number.
“Moshi moshi, Yama-chan?” Chinen voice hit Yuto. Hearing that person’s name already caused him to shaken.
“Alright then see you in while,” Chinen flipped his cell phone off and put it back in the bag.
“I’m going to café with Yama-chan,” Chinen explained when he saw Yuto staring at him.
“Can I come?” Yuto asked.
“Eh, weren’t you going to finish your assignment?” Chinen asked with a puzzled look.
“I just remembered that I haven’t had my lunch yet. I can’t work with an empty stomach, right?” Yuto created a perfect excuse.
Honestly that wasn’t the reason why he wanted to join them; the reason was because he wanted to meet Yamada. Ever since that unforgettable day, Yamada had been avoiding him more than he already is.
Chinen face lightened, “Sure you can!”

They were standing in front of the library when Yamada arrived. He seemed to be out of breath, maybe because he had being running.
“Sorry I’m late,” he puffed.
“It’s okay Yama-chan.”
“Oh I thought you saying you going to be alone?” Yamada asked as he looked at Yuto who had frozen beside Chinen.
“Yuto-Kun changed his mind.”
“I hope its okay if I’m joining you guys for lunch,” Yuto noticed how uncomfortable Yamada got with his presence.
Yamada just slightly nodded and quickly shifted his eyes off Yuto, as if he trying to ignore Yuto’s presence.
As they were about to make a move Chinen suddenly stopped and said, “Oh I left my book in the library. Sorry but can you guys wait for a minute, I’m going to make it quick”
“Sure,” Yamada and Yuto answered at the same time. Their eyes met for a while before Yamada once again looked away from Yuto.
Chinen giggled, sometimes things can get a little awkward between Yuto and Yamada. He turned around and made way toward the library, leaving the two guys behind.
An awkward silence filled the air since Chinen left, there no single word uttered by either of them. Yuto kept his eyes glued on Yamada’s back who was standing quite a distance from him. Yuto swore there were a lot of things coming to his mind since Yamada had arrived, but as he was left there alone with him he lost the ability to speak. Yuto took a deep breath and walked towards Yamada, “How are you?”
“F-Fine,” Yamada stuttered as he was surprised by Yuto sudden question. Yuto smiled, it’s been a while since he heard that lovely voice.
“How long has it been since our last meet? 2 weeks?” Yuto asked.
“Maybe,” Yamada replied without even looking at Yuto. His eyes were on the white book that he held with both of his hand which had “Norweign Wood” written at the front cover.
Yuto bent over and peeked at the back cover of the book, reading the synopsis. Suddenly their eyes met and Yuto could see clearly that Yamada’s face had turned into a pink cotton candy. Quickly Yamada slammed his book and took a step forward.
“Where are you going?” Yuto grabbed Yamada’s wrist.
“Home,” Yamada tried to loosen Yuto’s grip.
“Will you stop doing that?”
“Doing what?”
“Running away from me,” Yuto voice sounded sad and lonely.
Yamada turned his body and faced Yuto, who was still holding Yamada’s hand firmly. Yamada looked at his hand for a while before tilting his head up, “I’m not running away from you”
“Then why do you keep avoiding me? You don’t know how miserable I was for not being able to see you and talk to you.”
Yamada clamped his mouth shut. Of course he knew how miserable life would be if you didn’t see or talk to the person that you were deeply and madly in love with.
“I’m in love with you, Yamada Ryosuke.” Yuto’s voice trembled. He always wanted to spill those words out so that his feeling will reach that person.
Yamada froze; Yuto’s words were like a spell causing him to stop breathing. The world suddenly stopped spinning for Yamada, his mind went completely empty. He wished this moment will stay like this forever, so that he will hear Yuto’s words over and over again until each part of his body was filled with nothing but Yuto words.
But things weren’t that simple, Yamada needed to get a hold of himself. What he wished or desired wasn’t important, the thing that mattered now was Chinen Yuri. He can’t betray his best friend even though his heart desired no one but his best friend’s boyfriend.
“Are you stupid or something?” Yamada pulled his hand from Yuto’s grip.
“Do you think I’m in love with you, too?” Yamada smirked. A fake one.
“I know you’re also in love with me. The feeling that we had for each other, it’s mutual.”
“Mutual?”
“Yes, mutual. You want to see me as much as I want to meet you, you want hold me as much as I want to embrace you and you want to have me as much as I want to posses you.”
Yamada gasped, at this rate he didn’t think he had the strength to hold himself back. He was going to break apart at any moment. Yuto was already inside him, he knew exactly how he felt. The more Yamada tried to deny it the clearer it became for Yuto to see how much the lather were was deeply and madly in love with him.
“Stop being so full of yourself! I’m not in love with you and never will. I hate you the most!”
Yuto took a step forward; he placed his finger on Yamada’s check and wiped off the tears.
“If you really hate me that much then why are you crying?”
“I-I’m…” Yamada was lost for his words. He couldn’t make up any excuses anymore. His mind couldn’t think of any.
Yuto took Yamada’s hand and brought it closer to his chest as if he wanted Yamada to feel how crazy his heartbeats were right now. Then without any hesitation Yuto pulled Yamada’s small body into his embrace, and pressed his body weight against him. Yamada hid his face in Yuto’s chest and softly and quietly cried.
People passing by the library corridor couldn’t help but look at them. But as for Yuto and Yamada all those people didn’t exist because they were in their own perfect world overflowing with their love and passion for each other. They cuddled in each other arm for a while before Yamada loosened his embrace, he tilted his head up and stared right into Yuto’s eyes,
“I love you, Yuto-Kun”
Yuto lips curved into a smile, “I’ve being waiting to hear those words from you. I love you too, Yamada Ryosuke”
Yamada wiped his face with his hand, “How much?”
“So much that it can’t be beat.”
“Then can you promise me one thing?”
“What is it?”
“You will never leave Chinen.”
“What?!” Yuto’s expression changed.
“Please Yuto-Kun, promise me you won’t leave Chinen and you will stay beside him forever.”
“Sorry, but I can’t. I can’t lie to myself or Chinen anymore. I can’t stand it seeing you and Chinen being hurt by this relationship. I just can’t.”
“But Chinen is in so much love with you. He loves you so much!” Yamada sounded firm with his words.
“Then what about me? What about you? Do our feeling mean nothing to you?”
“Sure they do! They are something that is really important to me, something that I will treasure for the rest of my life. But I have to put aside those feeling because to me, the relationship that I had with Chinen is more important than it. Being able to see Chinen smile happily with the person he loves the most, it’s good enough for me.”
“Even though that person doesn’t love him? Are you still happy with that?”
Yamada nodded his head.
Yuto let out a heavy sigh, “Sorry but I can’t do it.”
“But Yuto-Kun,” Yamada paused as he felt his shoulder being touched by someone.
“Do you really think I’m going to be happy with that?” Chinen walked from Yamada’s back and placed himself between Yuto and Yamada.
“Chii, how long have you been there?”
“Long enough,” Chinen smiled.
“So tell me Yama-chan, would you still be happy by seeing me be with the person that doesn’t love me?”
Yamada shrugged his shoulder.
“That’s quite mean Yama-chan. Forcing people to be with the person that they didn’t love,”
“But Chii…”
“I know that you’ve always got my back, trying to protect me and never wanting to see me getting hurt. But Yama-chan to love someone it’s
something that you can’t do by force, it comes naturally. Even though Yuto-kun does stay with me the relationship that we have is pointless. Because to be in a relationship means to be with the person that you love and that person love you in return.”
“I’m sorry Chinen,” Yuto looked down.
“It’s okay Yuto-kun, it’s wasn’t your fault. You know if you fall in love with two people, pick the second one because if you really loved the first person you wouldn’t have fallen for the second.”
Chinen took Yuto’s hand and smiled, “Arigato na Yuto-Kun. For being true with your own feelings.”
Yuto nodded his head and gripped Chinen’s hand, “I hope we can stay friends after this.”
“Always,” Chinen let go of Yuto’s hands before he turned and faced Yamada; whose face was full of guilt.
“It’s okay Yama-chan, you don’t need to restrain yourself anymore. For having someone that loves you with all his life, it isn’t something that you encounter everyday. It only happens once in your life, so can you promise me something?”
“What is it?”
“Promise me that you will treasure those feelings that you have for each other for the rest of your life,” Chinen stepped forward and pulled Yamada into his embrace.
They stayed like that for a while, “I will do anything for you Chinen and yes, I promise you.”
“You will always be my best friend, and nothing is going to change that fact. No matter what happens.”
Yamada’s lips curved into a smile, “Arigato Chinen, for being my best friend”
Chinen nodded his head; he knew he made the right decision by letting Yuto free from this one sided love relationship.
“I guess I will be going now. I’m sure there a lots of thing that both of you need to talk about.”
Chinen took a step away from Yuto and Yamada before he turned around and waving his hand. He was smiling but it’s wasn’t the usual smile that Chinen always had on his face. There was something different about his smile today, because the smile was only a cover up for Chinen’s true feeling.
But since Chinen stood far away from Yamada and Yuto, the two guys didn’t notice that difference. So they just waved their hand in return as they watched Chinen’s figure fade away into the crowd.

After Chinen left, Yuto grabbed Yamada’s hand and dragged him to his photo studio. All the way to the photo studio Yuto didn’t say a word to him, he just walked silently ahead; leading the way. Yamada stared at Yuto’s back along the way and realized a few things about Yuto; his hair grew longer from the last time he met Yuto and he had highlighted his hair.
Yamada‘s eyes were all over the photo studio, exploring every inch of it. This is the first time he was in this room since he didn’t share the same faculty with Yuto. The room wasn’t quite big and it was full of lots of equipment which Yamada had never seen before. The room was rather dim, maybe because it was lightened with only a small bulb. Suddenly Yamada realized something; he was in that dim room- alone with Yuto.
There no one else there beside him and Yuto, who still had his back on Yamada, “What are we doing here?”
“To be with me… is that something that you really want or you’re just doing it because Chinen told you to do so?” Yuto asked without turning his face toward Yamada.
Yamada flinched as he traced that there something weird with Yuto’s tone. It’s the kind of tone that Yuto never uses when he talked to Yamada, because the usual tone would be more delicate and gentle.
Slowly Yuto let go of Yamada’s hand and slipped his hand into his jacket pocket, “You don’t have to force yourself to be with me if you don’t want to.”
Yamada’s eyes widened, he couldn’t believe what he heard from the lather. Because as Yamada recalled it wasn’t a long time since Yuto said he loved him and now he was acting like someone who already given up on him.
Feeling irritated, Yamada took steps and confronted Yuto, “What are you talking about?”
“You said earlier that you will do anything for Chinen. That’s why I’m asking you; to be with me is that something that your heart wants to or it something that you think you need to do?”
Yamada let out a small sigh, so that’s what was bothering Yuto. That’s the reason why Yuto had been acting cold towards him and was silent. Yamada tilted his head and stared right into Yuto’s eyes,
“‘If we happened to meet in different situation, where I’m not your best friend’s boyfriend would you be my boyfriend? If we happened to meet in the next life, will you let me hold your small hand all the time? If we happened to meet as two strangers will you let me be there for you every time it’s raining heavily? And if we happened to be lovers will you let me love you unconditionally?’”
Yuto froze, “That promise, you still remember it?”
“Yes I do. And do you think I will remember all those promise that you made if you meant nothing to me?”
Slowly Yuto curved his lips into a smile, “Then will you let me keep all those promises that I made to you?”
Yamada nodded his head as he leaned closer towards Yuto. Gently Yuto put both his hands on Yamada’s face and cupped the smaller guy’s face.
“Would you be my boyfriend?” Yuto asked as he kissed Yamada’s eyes.
“Would you let me hold your hand all the time?” Yuto asked as he kissed Yamada’s nose.
“Would you let me be there for you every time it’s raining?” Yuto asked as he kissed both of Yamada’s cheek.
“And would you let me love you unconditionally?”
It’s took a while before Yamada opened his eyes and looked at Yuto with a frown. The kisses, why did Yuto stop kissing him?
Without any hesitation, Yamada wrapped his hand around Yuto’s neck and pulled Yuto closer to him,
“To be your boyfriend was all I ever dreamed of, the gap between my fingers can only fit perfectly with yours, you are the only one I want to be with; even when it is raining and your love is all I need to keep me breathing.”
Their lips meet as they savor each other’s over flowing love and passion that they had and it’s started to rain outside.
