If you won the equivalent of $2,000, and had to spend it, what would you spend it on?
I have seen plenty of answers to this that say $2000 is, for various reasons, a small amount and from a certain perspective that can apply as far as I am concerned as well. Treasure found in my adventurings can far too easily exceed that value, even when divided between team members.
On the other hand I have enough memories of listening to Puffguts and Aunt Dani going over the books for the inn and later during those early days wandering the Sword Coast with Narri worrying about money to know that every gold piece is worth what it takes to get it, whether it be from payment, theft or treasure.
And as for the question itself? If I had $2000, or the equivalent in Faerûnian gold? What I always buy, books, parchment, ink, spell components. The tools of my magic.
