Mun Name: Mew, Kat, or even Manta is fine. :)
Journal: mewberries151
Contact Info: mewberries151@hotmail.com
Other Characters: N/A

Name: Mew (also goes by Kat, particularly when in her human form)

From: An extremely complicated (backstory-wise) AU world that involves Pokémon, Megaman, Code Lyoko, and a ton of other canons, all centering around a house and later a corporation where a bunch of characters from those canons gather, and also fight bad guys...and stuff.

Appearance: This is Kat in her Mew or “True” form

This is Kat in her human form

Her outfit may change depending on what she has access to. Actually, upon arrival in Ink City she’ll have on the outfit seen here.

This shirt’s stripes are various bright colors from the rainbow (Kat has a thing for bright colors), the vest is a medium blue, and the pants are denim.

Note: Kat, being a Mew, can also change into any of the...what is it now, 649 pokémon? Unless otherwise stated, these transformations resemble the pokémon’s standard pokedex form.

Age: She’s kind of a few millennia old (give or take a few centuries), and pokémon don’t really age anyway, but in her human form she’s somewhere in her 20s.

Gender: Female

Personality: Kat’s generally pretty upbeat.  Optimism is her game, and she’s usually fairly perky unless she’s completely wiped from battle or heard some bad news.  She’s got an odd sense of humor, somewhere between your typical trickster characters and “So did you hear the one about the yak and the Martian?”  She enjoys being happy, and making those around her happy whenever possible, the latter of which she has mixed success.  Originally, she had an attention span the size of a rodent but she’s matured a lot and doesn’t quite hop subjects and focuses as often as she used to.  However, she can easily get distracted when in new places or in meeting new people because of an innate curiosity, but she’s gotten better at noticing when she does that because it seems to annoy people.  Can’t imagine why.  Lastly, she is very caring and sympathetic to others’ concerns.  As a legendary guardian pokémon, it’s in her nature to care about the lives and worries of others.  She can be serious when needed, particularly in battle, although if she feels a fight is one-sided in her favor (or in a training session) she may decide to play up the drama or even make a game out of it.

Backstory: Oh geez, where to even start.  Umm...In the beginning, there was Arceus.

...Y’know, lemme fast forward through all that head canon about the beginning of the Pokémon World and skip to the actual Pokémon anime canon, from which she starts (although if you ever want to hear all that crazy “beginning of the world” head canon feel free to note me.  It doesn’t have much to do with Kat’s character, just the lore, if you will, of her world).

Kat is technically the Mew in the First Pokémon Movie, so anything that involves the Mew in that movie, is also her history.  To sum-up, scientists found a fossil of Mew (different Mew from Kat, they live long but not that long, yikes) and cloned Mewtwo from it.  Mewtwo gets massively PO-ed about being used by humans, not helped by a weird inferiority complex he has about being a clone, and decides to destroy the world with a giant storm, wiping out all humanity and most pokémon and starting all over again with clones.  Mew, as the guardian pokémon of Kanto, awakes from a meditative sleep beneath the Mt. Quena spring and flies off to stop whatever force is threatening the balance of nature.  After entertaining herself with some antics on a windmill, psychic bouncy bubbles and a really one-sided game of Tag (See? Short attention span.), she confronts Mewtwo.  After words fail to convince Mewtwo otherwise, the two duke it out in a psychic battle in which both seem evenly matched, that is only stopped by the one and only Ash Ketchum jumping between them in a plea to stop the fighting.  Mewtwo is moved by the human’s sacrifice on behalf of the pokémon, original and clone, and ends the fighting, taking his clones with him as he follows Mew to a place where he and the clones can live peacefully.  The End.

And now for the RP and headcanon.  After settling the clone pokémon and Mewtwo at Mt. Quena, Mew returns to one of her number of homes, this one in the jungle, to give them some space.  With that crisis averted she can now rest easy, however, a short time later she is pulled into Crmsn and CB’s world in a wish-gone-wrong, courtesy of none other than the Fairly OddParents, Wanda and Cosmo (yes, they’re in this AU too).  CB and Crmsn wanted to go to the Pokémon World, but instead the Pokémon World came to them as Mew found herself stuck in an unfamiliar house, surrounded by humans she didn’t know.  Naturally, she was not pleased and at first, rather frightened that these humans intended to capture or hurt her, but after being reassured that this was not their intention (being able to read minds helped some in this), she relaxed.  It was decided that a Mew might draw a lot of unwanted attention and, lacking a way to send her back at the time, they decided a human disguise might be ideal while she stayed at the House.  Unfortunately, when this was wished for, Mew found herself trapped in her new human form, with no way to change out.  It was revealed that all these botched wishes were caused by Wanda having the Fairy Flu, leaving Mew to dangle for 9 hours until the Flu was cured and they could wish her back to normal.  Mew was understandably not pleased, although this did give her the opportunity to get used to being a human and learn how to do human things, like put on clothes, put on clothes correctly, put on clothes that made sense when worn together, and uh...well, she never quite got the hang of fashion.

From this point on, Mew, now going by the less awkward name of Kat, could change into her own unique human form at will.  However, sending her back home turned out to be more of a challenge than bringing her back had been.  It was decided that while they designed a device that would allow her to Teleport herself safely back to her home world, she would stay at the House.  During this time, she got used to masquerading as a human and all the wonderful (and occasionally not so wonderful) things being human can bring.  She became close friends with CB, Crmsn, Rock, and all the other members of the House (and finding herself on relatively “non-enemy” terms with Bass), frequently baby-sitting their kids, Deiji and Legato as well as helping to defend the House against the many foes (human, Navi, robot, or other) who would try to attack it.  She also developed a close relationship with another newcomer to the House, Resonate, who also happened to be a younger version of Bass pulled out of his own timeline.  Actually, close relationship is a bit of an understatement, as the two were nigh inseparable and obviously something way more than friends, even if they wouldn’t mention it aloud.

However, all good things must come to an end, and unfortunately Resonate couldn’t remain in that world and timeline, without risking creating a massive hole in the time stream and likely eliminating most everyone in the House thanks to the Grandfather effect (Bass saved a lot of lives once he was older and uh, less chaotic?; Res staying would...mess that up, among other things).  After a tearful goodbye with Resonate, and having long since re-gained the ability to return to her own world now as well, Kat moped about in her own home world for awhile, although she eventually returned to regularly visiting CB and Crmsn’s world once she got herself out of her funk and realized she was missing out on being with all her other friends that she’d come to love and care about.

Years passed, battles were waged, foes came and went, children grew and new children arrived, but Kat stayed more or less the same, albeit always succeeding in finding yet another surprise or new thing to learn whenever she visited her friends.  She managed to form a sort of camaraderie/friendship with Bass, and while it wasn’t at all the close relationship she had had with Res or may have liked to have again, it was welcome all the same.  And it was why she was really upset to visit CB and Crmsn’s world one day and find that Bass had left altogether.  A lack of explanation or reason why just made his departure all the more confusing to her.  A further blow to her spirit came when Resonate broke through the time stream again on his own power, but this time injured and enraged with a recent betrayal and convinced that everyone he’d known had been aware this would happen and yet done nothing to stop it.  Again, Kat was left without an explanation as to what exactly had happened to Resonate, short of the fact that it had to happen for the sake of the time stream.  This was not a happy time for Kat.

So here we find Kat as she arrives in Ink City.  It’s been quite some time after the attack from Resonate and even longer since she last saw Bass at all, and she’s been keeping busy helping her friends in battle, while also making sure to uphold her duties of maintaining the balance of nature in her own home world.  I admit, her backstory is a little, um... “hole-y”, partially because in all honesty, not everything has been RP-ed out in detail yet, merely outlined, so I apologize if the details are a little fuzzy.  Anyone is more than welcome to ask questions if they want a full explanation for a particular event in her backstory or an explanation for something that comes up in RP.

Moral Standing: Chaotic Good.

Dreams: Ultimately, Kat just wants to protect those that are important to her, as well as those who cannot protect themselves (or that she perceives to be unable to protect themselves, anyway). It’s pretty much in genes. She’s the Guardian of Kanto as well as a member of the “Mother” pokémon race, if you go by that whole “all pokémon are descended from Mew” theory. On a more personal level though, she’d very much like to regain the close relationship with Bass that she had with him when he was Resonate. ...Yeah. The girl can dream.

Fears: Initially, her big fear would have been anything “Dark”-related, because as a Psychic type, she’s naturally at a disadvantage to those that draw on Dark powers. However, being at the House (and around Bass and Crmsn) she’s pretty much gotten over that, except in the case of unknown enemies who use Dark powers, although she tends to just shift into a form that’s stronger against that type when facing enemies like that. Nowadays, her greatest fear is divided over being unable to protect those closest to her, and dying, which factors into the “not being able to protect people” thing. Dying is a no for her, as a Guardian, because that means failure, but she’s also not keen on anyone else dying, even if it’s not anyone she knew and with the possible exception of some bad guys. Because again...failure to protect. ...Yeah, Ink City’s going to give her a hard time there.

Extra: Kat speaks telepathically when in any form that’s not human, indicated by italics.  Crmsn, as a makeshift “Dark” type, cannot hear her when she does this and often has to take a guess at what she’s saying (with amusing results).  Bass, though a kind of Dark-type himself, seems to have selective hearing when it comes to Kat’s telepathy, possibly because he may have absorbed some of her Psychic powers at some point in their canon, giving him this ability.  We’ve never quite cemented this canon-wise, I just go with the reasoning, “It’s Bass.”  Anyway, when Kat speaks telepathically, you’re welcome to have your character be unable to hear her if that character draws on “Dark”-like powers or has been touched by darkness in some way.  Or they can hear her just fine.  Totally up to the player.  I just thought I’d mention it because it can make for some interesting conversations.  XD

Also, Kat is familiar with a random assortment of characters because of the sheer crazy amount of canons her RP covers, so don’t be surprised if she mistakes your character for someone she knows.  Specific canons that come to mind are Pokémon (of course), Megaman (EXE, X, Classic, uhh...just most anything Megaman...it plays a huge part in that RP), Code Lyoko, Digimon, FOP (Wanda and Cosmo specifically), Nightmare Before Christmas, Case Closed/Detective Conan, and American Dragon Jake Long (I’m not even kidding).  She really doesn’t know anything in the way of spoilers for these characters (and even if she did, it’d likely be AU anyway), it’s just going to confuse her when they don’t recognize her.  ^^;

Lastly, Kat, as a Pokémon, and particularly as a Mew, has certain powers.  Her Transform powers work much the same way as Ditto’s does in the anime, as she can basically transform into whatever she can recall at will, although Pokemon are by far the easiest for her.  Her human form is a special form that she can only access as a Mew, her “True” form.  She can change into another form or Pokémon, even when in another form (Pokémon, inanimate object, Mew, etc.) but she cannot currently be, say, a Pikachu, and change into her human form.  She has to change first to her True form, and then she can change into her human form and vice versa (human to Mew to any other form).  The reasoning for this is that her human form is not something she would have otherwise had access to.  Also, it makes her fairly vulnerable in her human form, as she has limited to no access to her powers in that form until she changes into something else.

When Transformed as another Pokémon, that Pokémon’s advantages/disadvantages apply to her and the only psychic powers she retains is the ability to change to another form and speak telepathically.  As per the anime, she’s not limited to four moves and can use any particular attack in that Pokémon’s natural move set (no TMs or HMs except in the case of obvious ones like “Fly”, “Surf”, “Waterfall” etc, that she’d need to move about and that occur naturally in the anime if you have the right pokémon).

As a Mew, Kat can also Teleport, use Recover (either on herself or others, although the latter will drain her own energy), and call upon any other typical Psychic power, such as a Barrier, telekinesis, and a variety of other powerful psychic attacks.  It is also only in Mew form that she can use attacks that are traditionally only found in TMs.  The explanation for this is that canonically Mew can learn all TMs...and Kat’s been around for a loooong time and picked them all up over time, either from other Pokémon or through observation.  Additionally, she can technically read minds although she’s rarely invoked this power on her own moral idea that it’s an invasion of privacy as well as the fact that it has its limitations when a mind is unwilling or resistant to telepathy.  She likely won’t try a mind-read without a character’s permission, and in the unlikely event that that would occur, player permissions would of course apply.

Also, here's an extra profile for Kat that has some fun extra info and personality stuff in it (note, some stuff happens way later in canon than Kat is taken from, particularly the "offspring" stuff).

And lastly, some pictures that give a little bit of additional backstory/character history/whatnot:
