Summary: Katie has some news to share.

The cold winter wind howled through the streets of London as Katie hustled through Diagon Alley, slipping out into Muggle London via The Three Broomsticks. As usual, she was able to lose her entourage of photographers at the wall between magical and Muggle.

It didn't take her long to find the small, cozy cafe tucked in between two bookstores in Covent Garden. It was small, warm and served a fantastic lunch- three things that both women enjoyed. Plus, Romy had Ewan's health to worry about, and she knew Oliver didn't like them being out too long in the cold weather.

Pushing open the door to the little cafe, she immediately found Romy and her new, tiny baby nestled in a booth near the roaring fire.

Looking up from where Ewan rested, close to her body in his sling, Romy smiled and waved as her friend hustled in from the cold. Her eyes flicked down to the latest addition to the Wood family again; she was not yet out of the habit of checking his breathing and color with relentless regularity. The hole in his heart would mend, the healers told her, but her youngest was fragile still, moreso for having been born several weeks ahead of schedule.

Romy's mouth curled in a loving smile as she brushed her thumb across his little cheek. This one had given them quite a scare.

"Sorry I'm late," Katie said, apologizing as she leaned in to brush a kiss over Romy's cheek, "we had a team meeting that ran over. And how," she asked, leaning down to kiss Ewan's forehead, "is this little one doing today?"

"It's fine, we've only been here a few minutes ourselves," Romy assured her, returning the gesture. "And he's doing fine, though I'm still not sure how we ended up with such a serious little man. He just takes it all in. Not like his brothers and sister at all that way. Duff and Isla especially were into everything, right off the bat."

Realizing she'd been running off at the mouth, Romy chuckled. "Sorry, sleep deprivation does this to you. Four children in three years takes its toll on a woman's ability to remain coherent. How have you been? And Stewart?"

"We're both doing well," Katie replied with a fond smile. "The team teases me about 'fraternizing with the enemy,' but they get over it quickly enough. After all," she said with a wink, "we're the ones still on top."

"And it's a good thing, you know you'd hear it from Oliver if you weren't," Romy teased. She couldn't imagine being able to share her life with someone who was a competitor, at least assuming Katie and Stewart were as passionate about their professions as her own husband. They made it work, though. "You keep it up and I'll work on your future roster. I'm halfway there."

"Well..." Katie wheedled slowly as she peeked at her friend over the menu. "It's not exactly my roster anymore. Well, it is, but it isn't."

Romy straightened in her chair quickly and Ewan gave a soft noise of discontent for the disruption of his slumber. "You're stepping down?" she asked, shocked.

"No!" Katie said, shaking her head quickly. "No, not yet. I've still got a few years left in me. I'm just... taking a bit of time off, that's all."

Eying her friend warily, the curvier of the two studied her athletically-built companion. Thus far there were no physical indications of a pregnancy, but if Katie was expecting it was her first. She wouldn't be likely to show for a few months. "Will we need to get you a sling before long, Katie?" Romy asked, excited eyes meeting coy brown ones.

Katie's lips curled slightly. She should've known she wouldn't be able to surprise her friend who was well-versed in pregnancy. "Maybe..."

"Oh! Congratulations!" Romy exclaimed, reaching to hug the other brunette before realizing she wasn't going to be able to navigate around the table easily with her own child attached to her front. "How far along are you? When did you find out? Is Stewart beside himself?" The words fell from her lips in a rush.

"Almost two months," she answered with a grin. "I'm due in August. I was really sick at training last week, so Becca did a routine check-up and told me that no, it wasn't the flu, that I was pregnant. And Stewart?" she trailed off, silent for a minute. "I think he's still in shock."

"He'll work through it soon enough. Send him over and Oliver will wax philosophical about fatherhood all night." She grinned. Oliver had been ready for a family long before she was. She'd never seen him so happy as when he found out they were going to have a child. "And you and I have lots of shopping to do. I hope you don't mind four little tagalongs."

"Of course not. They'll be good practice for when I've my own tagalong," Katie replied, her hand instinctively drifting to rest atop her still-flat stomach.

Romy threw her head back and laughed. "Yes, a real crash course. I'll have you trained for the next few years in no time. Isla's been walking for a month or so now, and JD is working very hard on keeping up with his brother. Even Poppy has a hard time shepherding them all."

Covering Katie's hand with her own, she beamed. "I'm really happy for you Katie. You'll be a wonderful mum." Eyes lighting with mischief, she added, "Shall I talk to you now or later about arranging a marriage? I've got candidates no matter what sex your little one is."

Katie laughed and squeezed Romy's hand. "You know that would make Stewart the happiest dad alive, right? If our child married a Wood offspring. But let me figure out what this little one is before we start talking marriage, alright?"

"Alright. I can't promise Oliver won't start drafting contracts, though. No doubt there'd be a caveat that any grandchildren who enter the Quidditch profession must play for PU." She was only half-joking.

"I think Stewart might have something to say about that," Katie teased. "But we can overrule him."
