that when there is a call for rain that it does not commence until I have to step outside? This has happened too frequently for me to think that it is a coincidence. Yesterday I was in a meeting until 12. Usually when I have meetings that go to that time (and this one had been 2.5 hours in length) I sit at my desk for 20 minutes and decompress. So I had my lunch and then left at about 12:20. As soon as I got to Sparks street it started to pour - so I went and hung out across the street. Time to go. If I don't leave when I should I end up staying later and take the last express out of downtown to my area. I heard thunder at Hurdman and then again on Ogilvie. There were two rain drops on the bus window as it pulled up to my stop. As soon as I stepped off the bus the skies opened up. Now I don't mind getting wet but I do object to getting soaked. For those of you who know me, know that I am fussy about wet clothing around my legs. I was wearing my full grey skirt and it if got soaked it would be horrible around my legs. I also had my nice straw hat that would shrink if it go overly wet. So I decided it wait it out in the bus shelter. I waited for 25 minutes perched on the back of the seat since at that point I was determined to stay completely dry. Now I was amused with myself on this attitude since the jaunt to my house from the stop is very short and quick but it is long enough that I would have been soaked 5 times over in the deluge had I chosen to walk in it. I am unable to run very well due to immobile ankles, shin splints and other issues that would have been aggravated but that is not why I chose to take shelter. I really didn't want wet clothing. Shirts and tops - fine - no issue there, just wet cloth on my legs. Ugh!!! Eventually it let up enough that I could go home and yes it was still raining but not heavily.
