Escape artist strikes, again and again and again

Sigh!! Simon is determined to get to the other side of the fence and into the park. He jumped the fence the first night we were home from vacation (while we were standing 2 feet away from him). Luckily I was able to pry him off the top of the gate before he got over to the other side. Things seemed to settle down for a bit and then last night he was determined. While Paul was barbequing Simon managed to slip outside and within 10 minutes was gone. I noticed and looked for him. I heard a faint meow from the other side of the fence and then our air-conditioner started up. So I got my key, opened the gate and the little sinner came running over from in front of the neighbours side of the complex and into our back yard. Tonight we were out with him. Paul kept an eye on him while I was watering the plants in our containers. We could see him twitching but as long as we were watching he hesitated. As soon as I went to the opposite side of the yard the little *(*^&^ jumped. I managed to get him before he went over the gate. I splashed his face lightly with water and gave him a light swat to the rear as he ran into the house after I let him go. We'll see what tomorrow brings. btw our back yard is bricked in and my guy just loves the green grass that pokes its way under the fence. I think he believes the grass is greener on the other side of the fence (btw it is a city park). On that note I leave you all to have a good night!
