This picture is from a place that not many people know about or go to.
One commenter suggested that it might be the Shetland Islands but it is the next island chain to the East. It is in Norðragøta, also just referred to as Gøta, a village on Eysturoy, Faroe Islands.

My off kilter friend is Trondur i Gotu (ca. 945 to 1035), A Viking. The sculptor is Hans Pauli Olsen.

He was opposed to royal taxation and Christianity and was seen as an obstacle to those, hence, the idea that he was not on the same plane as the rest of the world.
