Adam opened the door to his house and smiled at his friend. Tommy smiled back as he entered the house. They hadn’t seen each other for awhile. After the second album, there had been another tour. Sometime during the tour, Adam and Sauli had ended things. Long distance was too hard for them. Sometime later in the tour, Adam and Tommy had gotten involved. It had just happened with little thought as to what it all meant. After the tour, there had been some time off. Adam and Tommy had vacationed together. Adam had starred in his first movie. Finally, a third album was recorded. The largest tour yet was planned. For over a year, Adam, Tommy and the rest of the crew had toured the world. Somewhere in Europe, near the end of the tour, Adam and Tommy had ended whatever was going on between them. It was mutual, but it still made things weird between them. Tommy finished the tour and then basically vanished from Adam’s life.

It had been almost four years since they had spent any time together. They had seen each other at various events. They tended to happen when you had a lot of the same friends. However, they rarely spoke more than the cursory hello. It was easier for everyone that way.

All of this had changed at Riff’s eighth birthday party. Adam and Tommy were both there. Enough time and distance had finally passed between them and they had talked for hours…catching up on everything that had been happening in each other’s lives. Tommy was dating someone named Hilarie. Adam had just broken up with Ben. Tommy had toured with a few bands…nothing on the scale of Adam Lambert tours. He was mostly just a session musician now. Adam had filmed a few more movies and guest starred on a few TV shows. He recorded and toured with a fourth album. He was in the studio working on his fifth album.

The fifth album was the reason that Tommy was at Adam’s place. Adam had asked him to come over and work on a few songs with him. Despite everything, Adam and Tommy had always been very musically attuned. Adam missed having Tommy’s input on songs. Tommy missed working with Adam, so he agreed.

“Would you like a glass of wine?” Adam inquired as they headed into the living room.

“Yeah.” Tommy responded. He hoped that the wine would quiet some of the nerves he was feeling. It had been so long since he had spent time with Adam. He had missed him, but he was concerned that they wouldn’t be able to be friends like they were before. A lot had happened between them.

“So I’ve been working on a few songs, but I’m kinda having a case of writer’s block. I’ve worked with some amazing writers, but nothing is clicking.” Adam explained as he handed Tommy his glass of wine and took a seat next to him on the couch.

“Well, let me see what you have so far. Which song do you want to work on?” Tommy inquired as he strummed his guitar.

“This one.” Adam told him as he produced a piece of paper from the coffee table. “It’s just words. No music.”

“Sing it to me. Do you have a melody for it?” Tommy asked.

Adam began to sing the song. Tommy picked up on it right away and started to play along. He made a few notes on the paper as to the notes and chords. He even added a few of his own lyrics. They smiled at each other as they worked on the song. It was like old times.

When they both felt like the song was done, Tommy put his guitar away. He finished his glass of wine. He was feeling the nerves again. They were done with the song. It was getting late. He should leave. He reached for his keys on the table, but drew his hand back. He really didn’t want to leave. Adam saw his movement. He didn’t want Tommy to leave.

“I found some old pictures the other day…from the Glam Nation tour.” Adam told him as he got up from the couch and walked over to stand in the corner.

He retrieved a photo album. He sat beside Tommy and opened the book. They looked through it and talked about old times.

“Look at our hair.” Adam said as he pointed to a picture of them with the fringe. They were both wearing their hair short now.

“The infamous fringe…It looked cool and I liked it, but it was always fucking getting in my eyes.” Tommy stated with a smile and a laugh.

“It’s so good to see you smile, Tommy.” Adam spoke as they looked at one another.

“Adam…” Tommy started to say. He was interrupted by his cell phone ringing.

“Sorry.” Tommy muttered as he reached for his phone.

Adam wasn’t sure who it was, but he didn’t want to ask. It was probably Hilarie. Tommy answered the phone and walked out of the room. Adam couldn’t hear what he was saying. A few minutes later, Tommy entered the room. He looked a little upset.

“If you have to go, I understand.” Adam declared.

“There’s no place else that I should be.” Tommy responded as he sat down right beside Adam.

“What about Hilarie? Isn’t that who was on the phone?” Adam quizzed as he looked into Tommy’s eyes.

“It was her, but we’re over. She was messing around behind my back. I found out the other week after Riff’s party. She’s been trying to get me back ever since.” Tommy told him.

“I’m so sorry, Tommy.” Adam whispered.

“Don’t be. The truth is I don’t think that I was ever really in the relationship…not a hundred percent. I don’t think that I’ve been a hundred percent in anything since you.” Tommy stated as he moved slightly closer to Adam.

“Tommy. I…” Adam began to say.

“Don’t say anything.” Tommy breathed as he closed the distance between their lips.

Adam and Tommy kissed softly. Tears slipped from Adam’s eyes. He had forgotten how right it felt to be with Tommy.

“Baby, don’t cry.” Tommy quietly commanded as he wiped the tears from Adam’s face.

“I can’t help it. I just realized how much I have missed you…how much I love you.” Adam told him as the tears continued to fall.

“I love you too…I never stopped loving you.” Tommy replied with a smile.

Adam smiled back at him through his tears. Tommy leaned in and captured his lips for another kiss. It quickly intensified. In no time at all, the tears had dried up. Adam had Tommy underneath him on the couch.

Tommy began to tug on Adam’s clothes. He needed to feel his skin. It had been way too long.

“Please, Adam.” Tommy begged as he pulled on Adam’s shirt.

Adam smirked and got off the couch. Tommy frowned at the loss of contact between them. Adam reached his hand out to Tommy. He took it and stood up too. Adam pulled his against his body. They kissed again. After a few minutes, Adam broke the kiss and lead Tommy up to his bedroom.

Once they were in the bedroom, it was a mad rush to get naked. They undressed themselves in record time. They took a moment to look at each other. Despite the years, not a lot had changed. They each had a few more pounds, but that was hardly noticeable. They each had new tattoos. Adam smiled when he saw the small infinity sign that Tommy had on his hip. It matched his larger one. He had gotten it while they were together. Adam was glad to see that it was still there.

Adam pulled Tommy into his arms and kissed him. Tommy kissed back with passion. They tumbled into bed and began to relearn each other’s bodies. Adam took his time to open Tommy up. Tommy was as responsive as ever.

“Look at me.” Adam demanded when he was ready to enter Tommy.

Tommy smiled and looked directly into Adam’s eyes. Slowly, Adam pushed into him. They both moaned.

“I love you.” Tommy breathed as Adam moved in him.

“I love you too.” Adam replied before taking Tommy’s lips.

Minutes later, they came within seconds of one another. Adam collapsed on top of Tommy. They struggled to catch their breath. Finally, Adam moved from Tommy and disposed of the condom. He cuddled up to Tommy and they lay in silence for a long time.

“Can we make it work this time, Tommy? Can we have this and work together too? Because I need you back in the band and back in my life, nothing has been the same without you.” Adam spoke as he placed soft kisses on Tommy’s shoulder.

“We’ll make it work this time, baby.” Tommy promised as he rolled over to face Adam.

The two men kissed softly for several minutes. They snuggled up and drifted off to sleep.
