“They want me…the whole band actually…to do a guest appearance on Gossip Girl.” Adam told Tommy excitedly one afternoon.
It was no secret that Gossip Girl was one of Adam’s favorite shows. He talked about it all the time. He had forced Tommy to watch it a few times. Tommy didn’t get why he liked it so much. It was okay, but a little too dramatic for his tastes.
“Yay.” Tommy replied without any enthusiasm.
“Could you at least pretend to be happy about this, Tommy? It’ll be cool. It will be just like a music video for you guys. We’re going to be playing the new song at some party. I get to do a scene with Leighton Meester.” Adam explained with a huge smile.
“I’m sorry. I know you’re excited about this. It’ll be cool, I guess. As long as I don’t have to do anything but play my bass, I’ll be fine.” Tommy told him.
A few weeks later, Adam and the rest of the band were on the set of Gossip Girl. They got the opportunity to meet the cast before they had to get ready for their scene. Adam was giddy. Everyone else was excited, but not nearly as much as Adam.
For almost three hours, they shot the party scene. Adam and the band were “playing” their new single, “Dancing Tonight.” Adam was having a great time. When they were done with the performance, Adam had to get ready to shoot his scene with Leighton. The rest of the band got ready to leave.
“Tommy, will you hang out while I do my scene?” Adam asked as he sat in the make-up chair getting a touch up.
Tommy was ready to head out with Monte, Cam, and Isaac. He looked back at Adam, who made a pouty face in the mirror. Tommy sighed. He couldn’t resist Adam when he made faces like that.
“Sure.” Tommy replied as he slipped out of his jacket and walked back into the room.
“Thanks. I’m a little nervous. I’d be more comfortable with someone I know around.” Adam explained.
Tommy smiled at him and took a seat. He really didn’t think that Adam was nervous. He only had like five lines and he was playing himself. How hard could that really be? Not to mention the fact that Adam had acting experience…on the stage where it was live and there were no second chances.
Tommy watched Adam from the sidelines as he did his scene. Adam was a natural not that Tommy had expected anything less than perfection from him. Tommy smiled and felt proud as he watched him.
A few weeks later, Adam held a viewing party at his place when the episode aired. At least it was supposed to be a party, but Tommy was the only one there. Everyone else had other things to do.
Adam and Tommy sat on the couch and watched the episode in silence. Adam was really into it. Tommy was trying to follow what was going on, but he didn’t know the characters or the storyline at all. Just as his scene was about to start, Adam reached over and grabbed Tommy’s hand. He squeezed it hard and Tommy winced in pain.
“Adam, you’re breaking my hand.” Tommy declared.
“Sorry.” Adam apologized and loosened his grip a little.
Adam’s eyes were glued to the screen as the scene played. When it was over and a commercial had started, Adam turned and looked at Tommy expectantly.
“You were great.” Tommy told him sincerely. “I told you on the day you filmed it that you were.”
“I know, but it’s different when you see the finished product. It turned out really good. I can’t wait to see the performance scene.” Adam told him. He was still holding his hand.
Throughout the rest of the episode, Adam held onto Tommy’s hand. Tommy wasn’t sure what was going on with the hand holding, but he wasn’t complaining. He liked it. Adam smiled the whole way through the performance scene. Tommy cringed a little when he saw himself. He didn’t like to watch videos of himself. He always saw things that he should have done differently.
“That was so awesome. I hope some more opportunities like that come along. Maybe next time I can play a character instead of myself.” Adam rambled.
Tommy smiled as he listened to Adam talk. He loved how excited he got about things. He loved how happy acting made him. Basically, he loved everything about Adam. He had for a long time, but he hadn’t been able to tell Adam. For some reason, he thought that tonight was the night.
“Adam.” Tommy spoke to get his attention. He was still rattling on about other acting possibilities.
“What?” Adam asked as he looked at Tommy.
“I love you.” Tommy stated simply with a smile at Adam.
“I…” Adam started to say.
He was a little shocked at Tommy’s confession. Quickly, Tommy leaned in and kissed Adam soundly on the lips. Adam didn’t hesitate to kiss him back.
“I love you too.” Adam breathed when they broke the kiss.
Tommy smiled and kissed Adam again. They wrapped their arms around one another and made out for several long minutes.
“Does this mean that you’ll watch Gossip Girl with me every week?” Adam asked with a giggle when they stopped kissing.
“I said that I love you not that I would watch Gossip Girl with you. I don’t get the show at all.” Tommy responded.
“I could explain it to you. It’s really not that complicated.” Adam told him and then thought for a minute. “Okay, so it is pretty complicated, but we could watch it from the first episode and I could explain stuff that you didn’t understand.”
“Okay, I’ll watch Gossip Girl with you, but you have to watch all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies with me. Deal?” Tommy asked as he held out his hand for Adam to shake.
“Deal.” Adam replied shaking Tommy’s hand.
“We aren’t going to start tonight though. Tonight I have a much better way for us to spend our time.” Tommy responded before capturing Adam’s lips in another bruising kiss.
