PRODUCT WARNING: If you have cats, you need to know about this!

Nov 04, 2008 00:21

I was changing my cat litter a minute ago (yes, I washed my hands before I typed this). I opened up the brand new tub of litter, and THERE WAS ALREADY POOP IN IT! Ugh! I am so disgusted that I don't know what to do.

How could this happen? The container was totally sealed and had not been tampered with. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Brand is Purina Tidy Cats Scoop Small Spaces. Was good litter, but I will be avoiding it from now on! I may even avoid all Purina products from now on. After all, I can't tell if there is shit ground up in the food just by looking at it!

I sent an email to Purina through their website, since their 800 number only runs from 7am-7pm. Apart from the UPC and manufacturing codes, this is that email:

"I recently purchased a 27 lb. container of Tidy Cats Scoop Small Spaces from my local Dominick's grocery store. The container was unopened and had not visibly been tampered with. The plastic ring around the lid was fully intact.

I opened it today, and there was fecal matter inside the container. Yes, my litter had poop in it. I am very, very disgusted and alarmed at the obvious lack of quality control.

Did you know that disease can spread this way? I can't use this litter at all without putting my cats at risk for infection. It is contaminated.

Also, I am now unable to finish changing my cat litter without an extra trip to the store (late at night, no less) because of this.

I am an unsatisfied customer, that's for sure. Who would ever want to buy used litter? Unless something is done about this serious matter, Purina has lost my business forever, as well as the business of my family and friends."
