Today at work I was originally suppose to do the 1:00 show and then two history talks. However plans changed.  None came to the 1:00 show but I was supposed to have two people.  One Japanese guy who was from some travel company or something and his interpreter.  They didn’t show up until around 1:40 or so but David (our executive director) wanted to make sure they got the tour.  So basically we canceled all other activities which was ok since no one was around anyway and I walked around with them.  I did a shorter version on our normal show.  I stop and talk, the interpreter translates.  I talk more.  It was fun.

One of the things I had to remind myself about though was to remember to look at the Japanese guy and not the interpreter. It is very odd talking to someone who may or may not understand some of what I said and then smiling and nodding while the interpreter repeats what I said in a language I know nothing about.  Then having the Japanese guy look at me and ask me a question in his own language and waiting to find out what he said.  Still it was fun and I think it went fairly well.  It was nice doing something different from the normal routine.
