I will, of course, have to read these over before I can tell my friend about them, so I can warn him about things and sell the stories just right and all (oh, the sacrifices I make for my friends ;) ). He's the weekday night security guard at the CVS my friend M works at, and because he's friends with M, we've become friends, too. He's a local, and has a lot of interesting opinions, and is about as far as I've drifted from my people-I-usually-talk-to comfort-zone in a while. I get to practice my one-of-the-guy skills with him, and tend to waste many hours of time when I should be sleeping talking to him, instead, just standing outside the store.
I warned him about my experience mostly being in slash stories, since he tends to be very smart-but-average-male about stuff like that (he's fine with gay guys, but still doesn't want to watch them kiss or anything). He seemed cool, if a tad cautious. He thought the idea of Sheppard/McKay was hilarious (if you know any realistic stories that really sell them as a believable couple, I could use them in my arsenal), but seemed to be able to get behind the idea of McKay/Zelenka or McKay/Carson (even though he was laughing, he said he could maybe see it). He can't stand Sam, but he's not sure if it's because he doesn't like Amanda Tapping or just that her character replaced Weir, whom he really liked. I encouraged him to watch some Sanctuary, to compare Amanda on there to Amanda on SGA. He loves Teyla and thinks Ronon's a total badass. :)
Thank you for the recommendations! Feel free to drop off any more suggestions you think of. You tend to have great taste, and I'm sure I he will appreciate it. :)
