And coming home...

Hey boys and girls, what's new? Not a whole lot here. Just doing the usual ish I've been doing the past few weeks -- playing Wii, having some self affirmation, thinking too much, wondering how the Hall of Fame will pan out, pondering if I should call a friend up to see if they wanna hang out....the usual. So anyways, how are you guys today? So I hear that LJ may be going kaput possibly or some shit like that? Mehh that'd suck 8 kinds of ass if so(though it's more likely that it won't happen) but maybe it can motivate me to start that Red Sox blog I've always wanted to start but never got around to or I started and then just didn't ever really follow through. That's another resolution I need -- follow through more. I'm kinda thrilled my sleeping patterns not allowing me to sleep past 12:30pm. It's progress!

Anyways tonight at 8pm, MLB Network is beginning to air Ken Burns' documentary Baseball. It was made in 1994 and it's fucking awesome. My brother has all 9 innings on tape and for like several years my brother would break out the tapes and watch them in January. Now we got a weekly 8pm thing. Also the cool thing about this? It'll make time go so much faster because you see every Tuesday will be an inning. There's 9 innings and by the end of that it will be March 3rd. March 3rd is two days before the beginning of the World Baseball Classic. Not only before the World Baseball Classic but my 24th birthday! :D Yes, I am ridiculously thrilled that the WBC is beginning on my birthday this year. Let's keep in mind that my birthday never brings anything really awesome on the baseball front to begin with because it's Spring Training. Also there will be a 10th inning covering basically everything since 1992(I think they're gonna go over 1993 real quick again) which will be a 2 hour documentary on PBS. Hooray! Dunno when it will air but hopefully this year. But I'm going to close with this little excerpt from the documentary which is truly the best way to explain the game in its whole --

It is played everywhere. In parks and playgrounds and prison yards. In back alleys and farmers' fields. By small children and old men. Raw amateurs and millionaire professionals. It is a leisurely game that demands blinding speed. The only game in which the defense has the ball. It follows the seasons, beginning each year with the fond expectancy of springtime, and ending with the hard facts of autumn. It is a haunted game, in which every player is measured against the ghosts of all who have gone before. Most of all, it is about time and timelessness. Speed and grace. Failure and loss. Imperishable hope. And coming home.

That last sentence gets me everytime. It's only three simple words but something about it makes me tear up...

i love baseball, red sox, tra la laa, boredom, quotage, real life ish, wii times, w00ten, tra la laaa, lollerskates, good times had by all, blehhh, random, baseball
